Hey Well sorry to be a pain but I was given a lead on a Sambora strat neck with star inlays that is being sold. I contacted the owner who was describing the neck to me and told me it was a new old stock order neck that was never used. Now I do realize some necks never make it to a body and there for sit around in the warehouse or are sold to a collector or so forth. ANyway I asked for pics which in the posting it said he could supply and he said he doesn't have a camera but would send a picture from his phone which I am awaiting. Now this is what really throws a red flag up for me, he states it doesn't have a serial number and that new/old stock never get a serial number. To me this doesn't make sense but I figured I'd ask some of you more knowledgeable fender collectors/players. Is this true or most likely a scam?

Mate I can assure you that the neck is not the real thing.

Fender do not sell necks without bodies or bodies without necks. Either combination also has to have the rest of the stuff on it that makes a complete guitar.

Then theres the whole issue of no pictures. That coupled with a dodgy story about a neck that never made it to a body (Fender are far too business like to not make the same number of bodies they do necks), coupled with no serial no.
You probably won't find anything else on the neck to validate it either.
