Welcome to the forum ,if you don't know how to tune a guitar a tuner would be very useful however every guitar player should learn how to tune without a tuner and how to change your own strings. When putting on a new set of strings the fewer the winds around the string post the better usually 2 or 3 is plenty, any more could cause your guitar to go out of tune. You should also stretch the strings as you tune by bringing the string up to pitch and pulling it away from the fretboard slowly and firmly but not excessively. And also lubricate the nut slots and bridge with graphite from a pencil or a guitar nutsauce lube. There are plenty of books available that show the basics of guitar care, tuning etc. you should find them at your local book or music store.Happy Pickin'.

I find standard 440 tuning to be best, 420 (Eb) to be my second choice.
As to playing, they do hang a bit different, both have advantages......and drawbacks.

Best advice would be to just play them both and get the feel for them.
