Thinking of getting a HR62 and buying a black HR57 body from ebay to create my own Black 1...without the gold hardware (which I don't like) and with the thin-skin finish...(which the Mayer doesn't have)...

I love the pups, to be honest though, I like the 3 tone burst better. I was hoping for something other than a black version with gold hardware of his already released sig strat but oh well. I may just get a road worn 60's and throw some jazzy cats in it. It's cool if you dig the guitar though, to each his own.

Actually I do like the pickups very much. But would rather
drop in Klein s5 which are midscooped and based on the big dippers
.

Love it - I may have to get one.

I personally don't understand why someone doesn't have a John Mayer fetish.

Ah touché. 8)

I think for me, his music is lodged in my brain amongst a not so great time in my life, and probably more importantly, I hate gold

Looks nice to me..Would have to hear it though. Is it the same one he plays in concert?

Price seems reasonable. Don't have the $$ to buy one though.

Mayer can be an idiot at times, OK a lot of times... but his playing is great with his JM Trio (Steve Jordon and Pino Palladino) on "Where the Light is" DVD.

I think the Big Dippers are some of the most amazing pups I have ever heard. I loved the S-5's but I think the Jazzy Cats are what I am looking for. Or I could just unload about $600 on a set of Big Dippers on ebay...
