Hi fenderibo,

It would make things immensely simpler if you told us what model MIM that you have. :)

Edit: Here is a handy chart that shows the string spacing for various models.

I've installed a genuine Fender American Series 2-point tremolo bridge and Schaller locking strap buttons on my Japanese Squier Silver Strat a couple of years ago without any problems. The neck has American Standard jumbo frets and an EasyGlider string tree fitted.

When the time permits, I'll post some shots of the guitar soon.

Brass one from Guitarfetish...

Ha - that was probably it. Thank you!

Someone found that the trem arm hole on the Callaham MIM upgrade block didn't perfectly fit their recent MIM trem plate. It was suggested Fender's spec might have changed - though I don't know if that's true or not.

Anyhow, these GuitarFetish blocks apparently fitted better and are much cheaper. I've a feeling the original poster on this might have gone for the steel one on this page, but I wouldn't be certain:

Ha - the Classic '50s - '70s have the wider screw spacing? Interesting: didn't know that. Thanks for the heads-up. :)

As does the Deluxe Player.

Noted and added to the (mental) database. Thank you!

BTW: that Deluxe Player does well for you, doesn't it? That's one Forum recommendation that has stuck in my mind...

...but an AVRI bridge will fit on a MIM Classic...

Hi Yogi: are you sure? This page says that the genuine Fender aftermarket American bridge has a measurement of 2 3/16" / 55.5mm from centre to centre of the two outside fulcrum scews:

http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/gbri ... attrem.htm

I don't know all MIMs - but that is too wide for the ones I've met, which have a spacing of 2 1/16" / 52mm.

I strongly suggest fenderibo measure the six screws on his bridge and compare that with any new one he buys, from anywhere.

Like Nick says, Callaham and Wilkinson are the two directions folks usually go for this mod. Or just put a Callaham block and some new saddles on the existing bridge setup. That covers the important bits...

Also, someone here bought a block from somewhere other than Callaham; it was much cheaper and they liked it better. Scratching my head to remember what brand that block was, though... :?

That was me gents -- The Guitar Fetish bridge is all steel with a brass block. Pretty dang nice with vintage bent steel saddles. It's like shoplifting at $36.99. Make sure to order the MIM model :D

The Callaham block fit perfect on my 2009 MIM Strat.
Just replaced mine within the last couple of weeks.
No issues at all.
