No, is the short answer.

Wilkinson make a conversion bridge that will take your string spacing from 52 to 56mm. As do Callaham, I prefer the Wilkinson.

Well actually the answer is Depends.

He didn't specify which models. Standard to standard, no, but an AVRI bridge will fit on a MIM Classic and the JV strat has a AVRI bridge.

+1

As well, the MIA vintage bridge is compatible with the "recession relic" models.

Hi Yogi: are you sure? This page says that the genuine Fender aftermarket American bridge has a measurement of 2 3/16" / 55.5mm from centre to centre of the two outside fulcrum scews:

http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/gbri ... attrem.htm

I don't know all MIMs - but that is too wide for the ones I've met, which have a spacing of 2 1/16" / 52mm.

I strongly suggest fenderibo measure the six screws on his bridge and compare that with any new one he buys, from anywhere.

Like Nick says, Callaham and Wilkinson are the two directions folks usually go for this mod. Or just put a Callaham block and some new saddles on the existing bridge setup. That covers the important bits...

Also, someone here bought a block from somewhere other than Callaham; it was much cheaper and they liked it better. Scratching my head to remember what brand that block was, though... :?

Cheers - C

It was one of the regulars here too - but I'm blowed if I can remember who it was. And the minute I hear the name of the seller/maker of that block I'm going to kick myself - it wasn't anything difficult.

D'oh!

Ah well: hopefully he'll look in...

Cheers - C

Yeah like I said the AVRI will only fit models with the wider vintage spacing like the discontinued Vintage player model, 50/60/70s Classics, and the Road Worns. All other MIMs should have the narrower 2 1/16 spacing that you mention.

As said, the Mexican Classic Series have wide vintage screw/string spacing. Also the Mexican Deluxe Series (Powerhouse, Deluxe Super, etc).

And as said, the Jimmie Vaughan Tex-Mex Signature has an actual AVRI bridge. I'm not sure which size the MIM Buddy Guy or Kenny Wayne Sheperd Strats have (I'm too lazy at the moment to check the parts lists for those models -- http://www.fender.com/support/wiring_diagrams_parts_lists.php).

Could Allparts be the other brand of steel block that you're wondering about? I'm very happy with the one I put on my MIM Classic'50s.

Ok lets be reasonable and thoughtful here and consider the question.

If a Mexican guitar has a American sized 6 point, vintage synchronized bridge fitted from new. What would be the point of fitting a different 6 point, vintage synchronized bridge that was a after market replacement?

Don't tell me I'm the only one who see's that.

The MIM vintage-sized bridges are generally fitted with the pot-metal (ie: zinc alloy) trem blocks. And no, a MIA Fender steel block will not precisely fit the MIM bridge plate.

Ha - the Classic '50s - '70s have the wider screw spacing? Interesting: didn't know that. Thanks for the heads-up. :)
