No response from customer support so I thought maybe someone from the Fender universe might be able to shed some light on this for me....

I have a stratocaster guitar body that has been painted over a few times, its not in the best of shape so I will be getting it redone professionally for my son who is becoming an avid guitar player. I think it might make a neat birthday gift.

My question is, can anyone help to verify if it's an actual Fender? There are no markings or stamps of any kind, and it would be nice to know before going ahead and choosing a color scheme. The neck in the picture is a genuine fender replacement I purchased a few years back.

Thanks in advance,

Pizzabox pete.

Wow man, it's really hard to tell. Since there are no stamps in the pocket, I tend to doubt it's a Fender. Then again, someone could have sanded it away. There are so many Strat type copies out there, the best way to determine is by the original neck's headstock logo & serial number. Do you have the original neck?

Hi there.

It is impossible to determine if it is a Fender or a aftermarket at this point.

The neck is a fender replacement, so it's not like it's original so i wouldn't worry too much over it.
As long as you use good quality parts and pick ups it should be a good player.

Yeah...kind of hard to tell I it is an original without markings or neck for a serial number. I tend to agree, if you use quality parts, it should be a good player.

Very true, a player it was, and a player it will always be! No sense in fussing about it, it's just been a nagging question in the back of my mind for some time.

My son will love it no doubt, so thats good enough for me! As for colors, I'm undecided between Lucerne aqua firemist or Candy apple red.

I do not have the original neck, hence the replacement. Sorry, it's not for sale.

Thanks again,

Pizzabox pete.

If you really want to knock his sock off, I suggest this color right here....

Hey, Jeffytune, I really like what you've done with that sparkly Strat! I've got one of those on layaway that I'll be picking up next month. I was considering converting it to an SSS configuration and hadn't thought about the gold pickguard as an alternative to the parchment, like the original. Is that a Fender pickguard or from somewhere else? What pickups do you have in it?
