Post subject: The tuning machine on my SRV strat says Japan???

Hi guys i just took one of the tuning machines off of my american made stevie ray vaughn signature series strat and found that it is stamped with Japan on the face witch is normally hidden when its mounted on the guitar??? what is this about???

Your tuners are made by Gotoh -- they build all of the vintage-style tuners used on Fender guitars so equipped.

So gotoh tuners are made in Japan? thats why?

Yes.

I have the same Gotoh Tuners on my John Mayer Sig.

Every single part on the American Made Fender is not from America. Schaller tuners are made in Germany, the wood more than likely didn't come from the US, Gotoh is japanese etc..
