Hello all, I got it in a change, a guy told me that it's fake and I start to think that it is, from the serial behind to the little balls on 12º, if you guys need more picures please tell me and also tell me what is wrong on it:

Well what's is supposed to be to begin with?

There's a ton of stuff wrong with it for an american strat. And more if it's supposed to be like a particular year and model.

But I'll start with some of the general things that are wrong.

Truss rod opening shouldn't be plain like that, tuners are wrong, saddles are wrong, serial number isn't a US number, String trees are wrong, The neck plate on the body looks really bad, should be barely any guitar showing on the top.

Not to mention that it's not even close to being square wit the body.

like Jason said, no idea where to begin with the list of what's wrong, fret markers, the whole headstock, etc.
in fact it would be simpler to list what looks right: nothing.

The pickguard is not cut anwhere near standard shape.

The neck might be from one of the super cheap squiers, the lower case ic means Indo-China if I recall correctly.

The fact that the serial number has 9 numeral digits is a red flag.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

The 12th fret dots are too far apart.

Let's see the hole pattern for the rear trem cavity cover.

I don't know what you mean by fake, but judging from the twelfth fret dot spacing, and the pick guard screw locations, and the serial number, it definitely looks like a Squier with a US neck plate, and a new decal on the headstock. Definitely not a US neck.

I wondered about that for a second when seeing that trussrod entry hole, which is typical of '90s Chinese built Squires; and Affinity Strats to this day. However, all the fundamental constructional features are wrong. Headstock shape, neck bolt placement, pickguard... yadda yadda.

It's a fake Strat rather than a souped up Squier.

On the other hand. The roller string trees are generic but of reasonable quality. I can't make out the logo on the tuners but whatever it says that bit is a button that is installed with the branding of whoever's flag they were sold under - the tuners themselves are a decent quality mid-market one made by Gotoh. Not top of the range, but OK.

We've seen those bridge saddles before - can't quite retrieve from the back of my memory who makes those.

Anyhow. All this makes me think it is a dirty cheap fakocaster that someone has then tweaked with some reasonable quality parts. Not great, but all right. Which leads one to wonder what the pickups might be, because that's usually the modder's first port-of-call.

So Rima, have that pickguard off and show us the backs of the pickups, please. There may or may not be something interesting to see there.

And welcome to the Forum! :)

Cheers - C

You need to find another site where you can open an account to host images. i use Photobucket, but there are others.

then you need to copy and link the location of the image inside the appropriate tags:

[img]address%20of%20your%20image[/img]

the host site usually has a little window you can directly right-click copy the address (usually with the image tags too,) then you just paste it into your post.

Hi johndy,

Your pictures have to be stored in a public access site like PhotoBucket, then use an "image link" like this
Code:
[img]http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae227/shimmilou/Misc/3stooges.jpg[/img]
Just paste the link in your post.
