Do you mean the modern 2 screw trem as opposed to the 6 screw vintage bridge?I always prefered the 6 screw,it may take a bit more effort to get set up perfectly but I prefer it for its ability to stay in tune better.Look at the "Floating Trem Setup" thread posted by Miami Mike in this forum it shows how to get the best out of a floating trem.

The biggest problem to overcome is the string sticking to contact points.
This will mean when the trem comes to rest the guitar is out of tune possibly on some strings and not others.

String your guitar in a string locking fashion so they never slip at the tuner.
Make sure you lube the underside of your string trees, nut slots and saddles tops where the string makes contact.
If you hear a ping sound using the trem its strings catching.

I use light mineral oil. Use absolutely the smallest amount you can and wipe away the excess.
For instance in the nut your not even half filling the nut slot.
The more you use the trem the better it will get.
If your using a larger string gauge be sure to get your nut filed properly.

I just picked up one of my strats thats not been played for several days and used the trem and it was perfect.
It returned back in tune because there was no resistance against it.
I looked at it closely and you cant tell it is even lubricated unlike those cream and graphite type products.
