Both mine are not floating, but able to push down. Not exactly blocked. For me it did add some sustain and stability. Between that and the locking tuners, I have no tuning problems.

Welcome to the Highway'69 club !

Did you leave the greasebucket alone ? How did you liked it rolling off the tone knob ?

Thanks!

I did leave the greasebucket alone, as well as the pickup switching - all I did was swap out the pickups and add copper shielding. I changed the tuners for Schaller locking ones, too. I'm happy with it, now. It's the best guitar I've ever owned.

I'd still like to get an American Special SSS, though. :)

The one thing I liked about the Special over the H1 was how much lighter it felt.

Maybe its just you. Both of them are crafted to the same specs, besides the paint and the pickups. Both are same weight. Same alder body.

I have a HSS HW1 and I like it very much, but I'm not sold on the Atomic HB in the bridge. I'm thinking of replacing it with a single coil, but I'm not sure what to mate with the Alnico IIIs in the neck/middle position. I imagine it would have to be pretty hot to match up well. That said, I have a MIM with CS '54s in it and it is my favorite guitar. I favor the lower output vintage pups in strats.... so I've been pondering... :?:

The Seymour Duncan Antiquity series might be worth a listen.
