I want to buy a new Highway One Stat HSS but the necks only come with rosewood fingerboards The Highway One with three single coils gives you the option of rosewood or maple finger board. This website says that it is possible to order a one off strat. I want to buy a Black Highway One HSS with a maple fingerboard. Any advice on how to do that would be greatly appreciated.

You can order a one off custom guitar, from the custom shop. It will be hand made to your exact requirments and will cost you in the region of £4/5000. They can take up to 18 months to complete.

It will be one very very nice guitar though.

Another solution is buy a mini humbucker (they fit in a single coil hole).

But if you go for that humbucker look then buy a humbucker and an HSS pick guard.
You should be able get someone to install it if you can't for around $50.

As far as I know - all HW1s are HSS under the pickguard.

It would be much cheaper to buy a new pickguard and choose the best humbucker for your style of playing than order a custom shop guitar...

Single coil sized humbuckers, like the Seymour Duncan Lil' 59 and Hot Rail look, IMHO, much better in a Strat than a full size humbucker. They are also build to be used with Strat electronics and won't require buying a new pickguard. They will limit your choice of pickup as there are more full size humbuckers - but there's still a wide selection.

Edit:
If you do buy a humbucker for a previously SSS guitar - you might want to change the volume and tone pots, as humbuckers like 500k pots and singles go better with 250k pots. There are a lot of ways to mix between them, IF you'll have to. It's still small change although it's something you should be aware of.

Perfect! You guys have steared me in the right direction. All i really need to do is get the highway one maple fingerboard triple single coils, and go with a hotrail or similar humbucker because what im after is that humbucker sound. I tend to play alot of heavier rock. I have owned more guitar brands then i can remember but never a Fender. Thats gonna change now. Thanks for the help.
