Changing out the Mullard 1960s .056uf cap in one of my strats for a new .022uf Sprague orange drop. I've been wanting to switch this out to mess around with the tone.

The never ending quest for that "tone" haunts me

Mullard caps in amps were never that good Ryan. I've a 59 full of mustards, their as leaky as hell. It is quite a reccuring problem with em.

Dunno if that translates over to guitar circuits at all.

The same amp has it's original valves (Mullards), which aren't anywhere near the end of their lifespan.

Funny old world eh.

I used a couple of orangedrops in a couple of strats. Nice caps, quite smooth taper. Theres a either VitaminQ or NOS (can't remember what I bought) in my customshop strat that I'm absolutely in love with. It's like the circuit knows the sound I want when my finger touches the dial.

WOW.

That change was like night and day! I was thinking about changing out the pickups because they just seemed kind of dull/muddy and didn't have any of that "percussive" feel that I like. I'm glad I didn't though, that .022 Orange Drop cap took care of everything!

Just spent the last hour playing what used to be my number three guitar, which just moved up to my number two guitar for a total of $3.

Sorry for sounding like a little kid in a candy store, just very stoked about the tone/sounds coming from a guitar that seemed so lifeless before!

:D :D :D :D :D
