I was talking with a guy who told me about a Fender Strat that was replacing the Hwy1. I had heard that that Fender was discontinuing the Hwy1, but I still see it on the web site.

Does anyone have any info on the Hwy1 going away or a new Strat coming on the scene?

I have only heard rumors but nothing more. I still see them in the stores. I know the American Specials are very similar, but the finish and single coil pickups are different. I own both and love them for their differences. I would like to pick up another Highway 1 in the future, perhaps a Telecaster model.

the manager from gc, and sam ash told me the same thing, the am spcl are replacing the hwy 1s.

hope not. i sold mine for a project.

I think the Idea was to replace the HWY 1 with the American Special, but only time will tell. I see that all colors are available at MF, so I guess they still have quite a bit of stock.
