Hi ,
This is my first post being a newbie here so hope this receives a reply.
I have a Fender Strat Tex Mex-candy apple red- serial num MN 8121808
Is there a site where i could find the age of this guitar by entering the serial num , or alternatively could anyone enlighten me from the info above?
I know its a long shot but here goes

Regards to all

1990-PRESENT (MEXICO): Mexican instruments were first produced in 1990 with the Standard Series. Serialization is pretty straightforward, with a few models that overlap each year. MN8 + 5 DIGITS = 1998-1999

Count the tree rings visible at the heel end of the neck.

Hi welcome.
It's not a long shot. Fender has that info right here at the top of this website you're on right now: http://www.fender.com/support/mexican_instruments.php

Or this site: http://www.fender.com/support/mexican_instruments.php

Many Thanks for that metro

Its a 12 year old tex mex then.

I bought it new but could never figure what year I bought it in--old age creeping in
I recently bought on line a set of the pre wired Vince Gill VG20s and am looking forward to installing them as soon as they arrive
Apparently theres no wiring to be done so that suits me fine as i am hopeless with electronics unfortunately.
I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience of them?
Thanks again
Rusty

I have heard the VG20's on an acquaintance's Strat -- they're really crisp and clean-sounding. With his rig (modern "Pro Series" Fender Concert 4 x 10) they almost sound "Tele-ish". He's strictly a country picker so they suit his playing to a "T".

You get that a lot Rusty, don't worry about it. It's the first 3 digits that denote age. The rest seems to be a random numbering system that has no bearing on anything.
Enjoy that guitar mate.
