If my memories strike me back, the first guitar is a Custom Shop Greg Fessler Masterbuilt Custom Classic Strat finished in Blue Stratoburst.

Stratobursts were much common with the "Strats", Elites and Dan Smith Standard models in the early 1980s.

The second is a Strat Plus Deluxe finished in Firestorm Splatter.

pictures of 2 Fender Stratocasters with standard finishes for the years they were produced (not custom shop colors), I think the 2nd one is right, but the grey at the top on the 1st is what's throwing me off. It would help if I knew the years and models, but all i have to go on is the pics

Actually Chromeface is correct on the color - that is a Stratoburst color. As he mentioned these started back in the CBS days and can be found on the 1982 "Smith" Strats, 1983-84 Strat Elites, and then there was a run that Greg Fessler did a few years ago.

However, the Stratoburst finishes were also on circa 1986-1989 American Standards, Strat Pluses, and Strat Plus Deluxes (first version with 2 blue label Laces and 1 silver label Lace). I remember that blue/silver, a black/silver, and a red/gold but their might be others.

I also seem to recal that Fireburst finish was available in blue as well as red, although the blue might have been called "Iceburst".

I never seen a post-CBS Strat finished in Stratoburst, neither it was a first-generation American Standard, Plus or Deluxe Plus - except the Custom Shop Greg Fessler Masterbuilt Custom Classic.

Perhaps you mean Blue, Black and Red Pearl Burst, which were not exactly the same hues, but looked almost similar.

I know those - they were on the 1990-1993 Strat Plus Deluxes and there were also those other kind of "reverse" burst that were lighter on the edges than in the center (went from pearl black or pear plurply-blue and faded to more of a pewter color).

However, I could have sworn that I saw a couple of American Standards or Strat Pluses back in 1987 or 1988 that were in the "Stratoburst" finishes. Maybe they were just unsold Elites still hanging up next to the new models in this store; memory can play tricks on you.
