Fake... 99% sure it's fake:

no fender in the saddles nor in the tuners

back of headstock (just not buying it)

that SB seems of awful quality

the scratchplate seems incorrect

that'd be my guess if I'm wrong please correct me...

Lots to list - too much. But for starters that headstock shape doesn't look right does it? And what about the writing on the back of the headstock? Tut tut - I don't think so.

Whatever it is, if that is a real Custom Shop certificate (which we doubt) it didn't come with that guitar - not with those cheapo Chinese pyramid tuning machines!

Obviously there's no risk of you buying it, so...

Cheers - C

Have seen those tuners and saddles on a couple of series's from the early 90's.
Thats not a Fender though. The rear of the headstock writing is all wrong. Fender didn't use that script in 2005. The serial says it's a 05.

The body, particularly the trem/pickguard spacing is all wrong.

'Zactly right: mid-90s Chinese Squiers amongst others had those pyramid-back tuners.

Strangely though, not with the walnut teardrop rod plug. In theory that should lend weight to it being a genuine US built Fender, because only they use the wooden plug (amongst legit Strats). However, on that obviously fake headstock shape it just serves to confirm that this is an outright fake, not a souped up Squier.

The '90s Squiers Niki is alluding to had nude trussrod entry holes at the headstock end. No walnut, no plastic (like a MIM); nuttin'.

This is a counterfeit guitar, pure and simple.

Some other person from Germany posted this last week - the auction didn't have all the detailed photos.

I'll concur - 99.5% sure it's a fake; not sure how much of it is real Fender.

I have a Custom Shop '56 Strat and have owned a CS '69 Strat - that certificate is 100% fake. Someone picked up a blank Custom Shop certificate somewhere and forged that document.

Production model Fenders sometimes have certificates (the AV '52s have them since the S/N is on the 3-saddle bridge; the AV limited run Thin Skins have them, etc.) but these certificates are different than the Custom Shop certificates.

Decals are positioned wrong. Tuners are Korean. Pick guard is a 50's style 8 hole but if it was any kind of reissue it would not have a truss rod hole that looks the way this one does which is totally wrong. And there is no notch on the PG for the bottom adjust.

The neck heel thickness is not like a standard Squire, it is thicker like a USA or Mexi..but some Korean squires also had the thicker heel, but they are not made of alder or ash.

That plus a bunch of other things point to this 100% not being a Fender CS..the neck may not even be Fender (unless some kind of moodified Korean), the body would need a bit of vivisectioning to really tell. The more I look at it, the more endless evidence I can find that this guitar is all wrong.

Not that it even matters at this point..but what is the deal with those string trees? I do not recall ever seeing any Fender with trees quite like those. And I think I've owned them all.
