I got a vintage white avri '57 strat coming. Not sure how much I like the white pickguard. I think either a mint green or tort would look good. Any thoughts? Also, any pics of those combos would definitely be appreciated. Thanks!

Tortoise shell doesn't look all that hot on white Strats, certainly not as nice as on a white Mustang for some reason.I always liked the look of white on white like the Woodstock Strat or the Jimmie Vaughn Strats.Black pickguards on white bodies look pretty classy too and I've seen a sort of black/white/grey marblized pickguards that look amazing but I don't know who makes them.

I gotta agree with Nevin on this one.

Mint only goes with rosewood fingerboarded necks.

Well, being a 57 Strat, your choices for official Fender are white pearl, tortoise, black, and anodized gold. Black would be interesting, but that's about as boring as white IMHO. Tortoise I'm kinda iffy on, white pearl would look cool, personally I chose anodized gold because my cat was gold and I dedicated my strat to him. ^^

+1 for gold.

Mint green and tortiose shell look good only on guitars with rosewood fingerboards, in my opinion.

The best guard in my opinion would be anodized gold. or you could try the following link for Pickguard Heaven- I would go for an aged single ply in cream:

Hi jbyrdpb,

So far the gold looks the best, awesome looking! If you don't like the gold, I think that tortoise looks pretty good on a light colored body and maple neck. This one is Blonde, but might give an idea of what it would look like. Remember that tortoise can be dark or lighter, have more or less of the red. It seems that no two are alike when it come to tortoise. This one is fairly dark, but if you look around, you can find a lighter one.

Here's a tortoise-shell pickguard on my snow-burst Mary Kaye......

Not precisely a "true white" but you can see the contrast between it and the maple fretboard.

I vote for mint green. The gold also looks good.

Vintage white with mint green. I like the combination myself. This is a CS strat - it's got a '57 body, and the guard is 8-hole three-ply mint green. I don't like the tortoise guards on white, but on the vintage white they look pretty good. Also, FWIW, the pickups and knobs are all aged white, and I think that helps with the overall look.

Thanks for the opinions and pics. Unfortunately I still can't make up my mind. I'm also an idiot, the guitar is white blond, not vintage white...

Yeah. If I'm having this hard of a time deciding, that's probably the thing to do.

Thanks again for the help.
