Hey folks

regarding the beer festival let me say that it was worth going.

I will post this pic only.

Oh what the hell, two more won't do no harm. Who can tell me what's on my plate?

oh and this I thought was a fine saying for the end of this substantial, world-changing, mindbogglingly pointless post: (check on the postcard)

Well Porto wine is great but we have more than that in portugal

After all it can't always be booze and guitar all the time can it? (well 99% it can  )

We have beautiful constructions here in portugal... guimares castle is a great example... obidos is the same thing just hotter... Lisbon has some great art the Expo compound, the traditional sweets (don't know how u call them but here they're known as the pasteis de belém Best EVER with some cinnamon!)

Algarve sure has a lot of english turists in the summer (probably because of the beaches, the nights, the mood...:))

Well I now have a "new" 2009 am dlx amber sss strat back in Finland!

Hoorah

And my mum had some normal branston in the fridge!

Hoorah

But she was a bit stingy with the nice cheese, and actually went out to get cheapo edam rather than let me at the good stuff for sandwiches for the plane!

Boo hoo

I did have two fry ups and an ace pork roast with crackling and apple sauce!

Hoorah

But forgot to meet my craving for fish and chips!

Boo hoo

In other news - big thumbs up to Brazil and beer festivals. And to Portugal!

Hoorah

So I need a decent set up and the Fender hard case that came with it was really poor so I got a Hiscox - but easyjet let me take amber in the cabin!

Hoorah

And GAK blokes were very nice - I went in with the guitar I had just got from DV and they let me try it out and checked it over for me:)

Hoorah

And the natural paint finish is much nicer than the one I saw in DLX in Helsinki and looks lighter like the 2010 pics on Fender.com - very happy I am.

Hoorah

But the pick guard tortoiseshell is a bit well... not Brazilian pool party really... so I am thinking of going off-white to match the knobs and pick ups or black... any ideas...?

(Set up and new pick guard first. Pics later.)

Yeah, I've seen tortoise shell pickguards that work somehow, but I always wind up replacing them. Same with the pearloid pickguards. Between the two I must have a dozen in SSS sitting around...

I have a couple of Strats with regular white pickguards that wind up going well with off-white or aged white pup covers and knobs. Depending on the body color, it can be a good look.

Irony of ironies.

Just got back from my favourite local dealer and they just got some US Fender basses in. And they have been promised backlog US Fenders in the next month...

Did I shoot too soon... Nah... I saved a bundle... but still when the hss I originally ordered (back on page 2 of this thread) comes in I will take a good look... would the trouble and strife notice if a doppleganger appeared in the house...?

Well there wasn't much more to be said on the original subject and the conversation evolved to other interesting things. Tis only natural :)

It would be nice to see again - - it used to be like that and a few that got hijacked were glad to start a new topic.

I kind of thought hijacking on this forum was NOT OK, except to hijacking certain threads where almost everyone involved!   In this case, this hijacking was very entertaining for the most part! So Miami, what you suggesting? :?:

Mike's post harken's back to a time when candor and courtesy were a requirement and not a luxury here mate. Thread jacking, off topic comment and wild tangents were considered ok as long as the OP didn't object.

Anyways, what have I got to do to get my mitts on a weaponX guitar?

Hijacking is not OK? Good grief, I think every thread I've ever started here has been hijacked within a few pages. I always kinda felt that was all right and usually a lot of fun - do you think perhaps I should have been getting annoyed at it instead?

Problem with that is: on my own threads the hijacking is like as not started by... me! :D

So. Where shall we fly this thread to next?

Cheers - C

Don't. Save the calories for more important tasks, for instance the fridge-walking-beer-getting-routine. 8)

Cambelt replacement and the stupid engine bay design of the Audi TT.

Engine out to change a cambelt. What kind on nonsense is that? Been on it all morning.

The only other car to fare worse is the Toyota Prius. You gotta take the wing off to replace the turn signal bulb. Toyota dealerships charge around £600 to change a turn signal bulb.

We've got one! My advice; don't ever have a flat battery. That's bizarrely complicated to deal with.

Still. The wife loves it, and it certainly is a lot less thirsty than... certain other cars.

Is it just me or does it almost feel like it's hijacking when someone makes a post about fender USA running dry etc?

hmmm...
