I have been living in Southern Cali for just over 2 years..and I have not even visited wine country here. I really should.

As far as Portugal, I can't imagine that being anything but a fantastic place to go. And I would also imagine aside from wine, they are really into guitars..wine and guitars..how can you go wrong?

Hi Hustle: my wife and I visited Porto. Fantastic! I loved that Eiffel bridge; my wife has bad vertigo and didn't.

We seriously DID the port companies on the other side of the river. Strangely, just as one cellar tour ended another was beginning. Can't quite exactly remember how many we did in the end (hee-hee!) - but we filled a taxi bringing back all the vintage port wine we bought! Still got a few bottles... :D

Outside Portugal people mostly haven't heard of White Port and I only discovered it in Porto. Flippin' delicious! They told us once a bottle is opened it doesn't keep and must be drunk within a couple of days. No problem! 8)

Cheers man - C

that's completely true... did you knew that back in the old days Porto's economy was based in wine exportation (mainly to england)?

that riverside is beautiful and the bridge is awsome... I recall when we could drive on the top shelf...

now that's for the subway so don't make the mistake of drivin there the next time you come here

Did you see the football stadium (soccer stadium) really pretty too...

Hello from Salzburg!

On these quick impressions you can see a traditional Salzburgian beer, "Stiegl", which means "Stairs" (regardez the design!); redcurrant juice in front of castle panorama; and an odd installment of what in the German-speaking world is called "Denglish", a mixture of "Deutsch" and "English"; often a happy and ignorant use of this abstrosity is made in advertising. As you can see, this enterprise has "need for feet".

"mystical beer-worlds" tonight. Hope to shoot some photos of this international fair. Might try a few beers too. Though with 250 different beers, which one to sample?

keep up the good work here - it's a wonder though not really a surprise we're now about to start the forum's own travel agency. I am proud of us, folks!

So long!

Hi again Hustle: yes I did know that - I'm English! :D Couldn't help notice the English names of a lot of those port wine houses on the far side of the river...

We still do import a lot of your port. We love it at the end of a meal with... cheese! For some reason we don't seem to get the white port though: no idea why. Since discovering it in Porto I buy it when I can. You can find it here, but you have to search. It's not in supermarkets. Worth the hunt though!

Also, in the winter there's few things better than venison cooked very rare and well rested, with a red port wine reduction. Yum yum!

Cheers - C

Hi Nutter: on this Forum have you met our good friend russianracehorse yet? A quick glance at this classic, epic thread will get you up to speed:

I don't want to speak for him, but I have a feeling his answer to your question might be: "All of them!" :D

Cheers - C

Hi Ceri -
I feel a bit tiddly merely looking at that thread! - I think I'll go with what you said and get them all down. I probably won't survive the day but what the heck. I'll be going with a bang! ;-)

I agree on the Boddy's though - nice!

Ta-ra!

(I do feel jolly)

Read on. It got better as it went along. It resurfaces once in a while for updates. Everytime someone's head clears enough to make a post, I guess!

Well there wasn't much more to be said on the original subject and the conversation evolved to other interesting things. Tis only natural :)
