There is a following with either down here. Australia tends to favour the Vegemite- NZ favours the Marmite. I sit in the middle as I have said before, my allegances are both sides of the tasman- except for Rugby!

The argument can get quite fierce about "which is better- Marmite or Vegemite?" some argue there is no difference, but there really is.

Ya, they make the BLACK TAR of DEATH Vegimite (Marmite Light) at Sanitarium Foods in NZ (Blertles!) I toured the company when I was there. I wanted to see where they make that stuff and those yummy, get very soggy quick, Weet-Bix. So here is the main gate.

Good on yer mate :D You gotta eat them quick! I wont have anything else for breakfast. Not to add a twist to this thread, but as I was growing up Sanitarium used the slogan "Kiwi kids are Weetbix kids". I was in shock that I saw the exact same add in Australia with the slogan "Aussie kids are Weetbix kids"

I was utterly mortified... And Hey you have to admit- the Kiwi version sounds better...

BUT, to my surprise, while the San is owned by Christians there was this big Beer truck parked outside the main manufacturing plant! (me in front).

Canturbury Draught Beer huh? gee that makes sense- that might explain why the English version tastes different... since English draughts are typically stronger than ours- I wonder if they use hops too or just the yeast extract???

Then I found out that, yes, as brought out by Martian (I think) that this stuff is made from BEER YEAST! Who would ever think of putting nasty old beer yeast on toast??? Ummmm.... And by the way, this bar was somewhere in NZ as well, but I can't remember where..... help me out Blertles....

Mad Cow- (never been there) in Christchurch.. looks like a hit attraction down there- I wouldve had a ball down there if this website is true to form:

Naturally, I am a human being. So I clicked on the link that said "Babe of the month" Looks like Im gonna have to make a trip down there myself!!

BUT NOW a new crisis has hit Briton. There has been shortages of Marmite across the nation and they are not sure when new orders will be able to be filled. Some think that this has to due to flooding that took place at the Marmite factory. Others have reported that Islam in UK has banned beer yeast causing shortages of one of their main ingredients. I called the Marmite company and was told that due to the bad economy, the Marmite company laid off workers last year, and now record orders are coming in and their is no way they can keep up this the demand......

LOL I think that neatly sums up the currant crisis

PS My new recently-returned am dlx amber rosewod sss was delivered this morning to my folks - hoorah

PPS The currant crisis is likely to hit home hard by next Easter - expect more demonstrations as hot cross bun supplies dwindle

I was having trouble getting an American Standard Strat. It took three and a half months to arrive.

We were talking about this in another thread:

I think that they are using the lacquer ingredient that Fender needs to finish the guitars in making Marmite and Vegemite and that's why there is a guitar shortage.

But that's just my opinion.

I'm just glad they're still in business, even if the Am Dx has been slow to arrive in stores. I'm sure they had to do some cutbacks. PRS almost went under. I didn't see an article on Fender but here's what happened to PRS.

 Ah. I think I may be able to explain the sudden Marmite shortage.

I accidentally misplaced a decimal point whilst making my weekly online Marmite purchase - and ordered up a million kilos. Still, when we saw this coming up the drive we didn't turn it away:

Also, so many good Marmite things turn up when you go searching. Here is a replica of Rodin's The Kiss - made from Marmite (really true, apparently). Hmm: I notice from the suroundings that this is at Greenwhich Observatory (where GMT, Greenwhich Mean Time, comes from). That's about two miles down the road from me: I might just grab some toast and head over there...:

So when do we think Fender will start shipping more guitars to retailers? I'm gassing for a CAR EJ Strat.

Guitars are coming weekly, but just not at the rate to fill demand, thus the wait so many people are having.....

Woah Nelly. I am 3000 miles away from IT until Wednesday night just after midnight. Don't panic!

I am trying to decide whether to make marmite, vegemite or nutella sandwiches for the plane journey. Obviously though I will be making cheese sandwiches - I just wish I had Branston pickle!
