i have both and love them we all know thier different guitars the better is in the craftmenship and materials used so if you think a guitar is better than another one just cause of its name you may want to reconsider what better means no disrespect

I played strats and i like their tonal varieties which are more than standard teles, but I also like the sounds i pulled from a tele.

so I bought a mex std tele and had Rick Graham in Brea, CA customize it. I had him add a humbucker pickup (screamin demon seymour duncan) as a middle pickup. I like the mid output it produced. I have a five switch selector from a strat and a push/pull pot on my tone nob to turn on/off my bridge pick up. with this setup i created my own tonal varieties a total of seven tones. the three original tele tones and and four custom sounds.

for cosmetics, i also had him cap off my humbucker to match my neck pickup. I also had the six saddle bridge changed to a vintage style three saddle bridge with an ashtray cover.

this is what i prefer and i really have fun with it.

i believe someone wrote, that strats cant necessarily play country, and teles are better for blues and country. i totally disagree.
i will say that a tele has more southern twang to their bite, but however with tonal diversity that a strat has, country chicken pickin can be be produced. use different settings on your amp, pedals and such.
and of course, blues are played best (in my opinion) on a strat, due to different tonal access, WHAMMY bar etc. etc.
i love strats, i do love teles though. many people say you cant play rock and roll on a tele. ofcourse you can.

ive heard people play jimmie hendrix material on a tele, and george strait on a strat. get the guitar for you. and play the crap of it.

I agree. I am a tele player and do play hendriz and SRV on a tele. I have a strat but would rather play my tele's I mean 85 - 90 % of the tones come from our hands. so who cares what kinda fender it is as loong as it is a fender!!!!

Strats are much more comfortable and versatile. With a little rearranging of a Strat's wiring, you can also get Tele sounds too.

for me you cant beat the sound of an original vintage strat! teles are good in their own respect but they dont have the feel and the tone of a strat.they hav more bite so theyr good for country etc but strats do evrything while maintaining great tone looking good and playing good.strats will always be no1

Well it's a Strat forum, so STRATS RULE!

That being said, yes I prefer Strats but Teles have definate applications too.

I love both guitars. I own a strat already and it is an incredible guitar. I absolutely love it. My next guitar is going to be a tele, though because I just love the way they play. I want BOTH!!!

I prefer Strats.
Prior to the Strat's development, players complained to Leo Fender that the Tele's were uncomfortable, that the edge of the guitar dug into thier forarms. Hence, the beveled body and the contours. In addition, Leo added the third pickup to make the Strat more sonically versatile.

Strat (i think) is possible to play rock to hard rock but if you bought it to play country, you've done a big mistake!

I’ve been playing country for 24 years (22 years professionally). I couldn’t disagree more with this statement. Strats are great for country.
