They have completely different sounds. Neither is better than the other, they're just different.

Strats have more tonal variety, but I have a Tele that I love, too.

For me I love the look and feel of a Strat. I also love the many different tones, yet when I plug my Tele into any one of my Fender amps the sound I get in the middle switch position is as good as it gets. My vote for looks playability, overdrive tone, and feel go to my Strat, for clean tone with my playing style my vote goes to my Tele.

I prefer a strat but my tele does have better sustain than the strat. The strat does have more tonal versitility and is more balanced than the tele, if we are comparing. My strat preference is not because of these differences, the design just speaks to me better I guess.

I have a strat and want to own a tele some day. I find the strat more versatile.

Ok guys, strats are logically better just because they have WAY more features, but teles are my favorite just for their sound. Lovum both.

In general, the Strat fits my playing style better tone-wise. I also like the neck feel a little better. But some of the tones I get from my Tele can not be duplicated by the Strat. It's a good reason (excuse?) to own both. Or several of each. :D

Stratocaster!!!!!!
I love them Both, but Strats are 400% more comfortable. Tonaly, they're too different to compare.

Speaking as a completely biased Tele person, there's no contest. Teles are the go. :D

If you want different tones, just buy more and different Teles. They come in so many variations that there is no tone you can't get.

Examples:

52RI Tele
Nashville Power Tele
72RI Tele Custom
72RI Thinline Tele
Telesonic
Tele Jnr
Telecaster Elite
Aerdoyne Tele

The list goes on.... 8)

it's about your style. Strat (i think) is possible to play rock to hard rock but if you bought it to play country, you've done a big mistake! Tele is worth to play country, jazz, and blues

Couldnt agree more, the nashville tele does a great job a duplicating a strat. but my strat cant copy my tele. the tele has a voice all its own there is no doubt the the origional is still the king the Telecaster

I think both guitars are great though I'd have to pick the Stratocaster. They're so comfortable to play and sound so good! Leo Fenders best invention ever besides his amps!
