Hi ABPOS I have 4 Strats and all are 3 pup single coils,I think you may have misunderstood something I said,I went from using a 2 pup guitar to (Hagstrom II)to a Strat and had very little problem adapting to the 3 pups of the Strat. You have to adapt to the different spacing of the pups when it comes to palm muting etc. but it isn't impossible to do.With Strats I'm just a dyed in the wool 3 pup Strat traditionalist and don't like any Strats but the 3 single coil layout ones.

I guess if it comes down to really needing one, I'll have to change my style. But I really don't think that's going to happen. I would either switch the pick ups or go to a different guitar. But that's just me. How do you like your Mexican Tele? I played one the other day and thought it was pretty good. Although the couple of mexican strats I played felt in the same ballpark, and I wasn't unimpressed. I'd rather have an American, but I came away liking the couple of mexican's I played. Especially the Standard tele for some reason. The upside would be more money for an amp. I'm not sure if I'd miss the difference between the American and Mexican. I guess it just depends on the certain one. I'm still not sold on the sound of the single coils in either guitar, because I think I want a little warmer, lower tone. So, I think the humbuckers might be more up my alley anyways. I realize you can throw some in either one.

Hi ABPOS I have 2 MIM Strats an '00 lefty strung for right hand-I do a lot of Hendrix covers and the lefty is better suited with the whammy and controls on top-and an'09 Jimmie Vaughn. Both guitars are really great but the Jimmie Vaughn is one of the best Strats I've ever played. When I bought the J.V. I tried 8 or 9 other Strats including MIAs and even an MIJ Areodyne and the Jimmie Vaughn although being about the cheapest was the best of the bunch-it sounded almost identical to my '65 and the slight V neck was the most comfortable V neck I ever played.

It seems to be the consensus on here that sometimes the foreign ones can be good. Which is a good thing, because they're cheaper. Better bang for the buck.
