Welp, G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) has gotten the best of me again, and I splurged on the newest addition to my collection. (Another) 1997 Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Stratocaster. This one is black with a maple neck, and is by far in the best condition of any that I've bought before. Literally looks like he tucked it under his bed for the past 13 years. Case doesn't have a scratch on it, paint is in great shape, neck looks barely played, pickguard is still bright white compared to my others, and it came with the original ACE strap, tied up and literally unused. And I got it for cheaper than the others too! Anyways, enough said, time for pics. Although, I admit they are bad pics as I've been too busy playing the thing to bother taking better ones.

Nice family but you really should try the original Jimi Hendrix Tribute Strat from '97-'00 -the lefty strung right to get the full Jimi vibe and having the controls and whammy up top makes a big difference in playing in his style.

Yeah I've looked into the lefty strung righty tribute strat and even played one as well. Tonally it sounds dead on with the Voodoo strat, but having the controls reversed does enable you to pull off a little bit more Hendrix trickery. Overall though, I decided those ones weren't for me because it was just generally awkward to play and really hard to pull off without looking like a Hendrixian hackjob to outsiders. I would like one for playing around with at home, but I gig most of my guitars and the Voodoo strats give me the awesome tone, visually send a nod to Hendrix without complete emulation, and still allow me some uniqueness from both the complete reverse Hendrix look and from the typical strat. Especially the sunburst Voodoo strat. It has the reverse headstock vibe but doesn't scream HENDRIX.

P.S. thanks to all for the complements!

I've got a black one precisely like the one you've just picked up, had it since '98 and I absolutely love it, as do guitar enthusiasts who see it at gigs. I've been aching to get another one as a back-up: if anyone knows of any reputable source from which to buy another '97 or '98 Voodoo Hendrix Strat, in good-to-fair condition, preferably in sunburst, please let me know.
