When I began playing guitar, Fender only made 2 Stratocaster models, tremelo and hardtail. I could use some help IDing this model. Ser # Z7020163, 22 fret maple w/ rosewood board, small headstock, OCB & gold Fender logo, 2 string trees, Fender same size height tuners, truss rod adj at headstock end. Body is surf green (?) not super glossy finish, almost like a matte feel to it. white 3 ply guard, white knobs, 3 staggard ploe pickups (said to be Abigail Ybarra ?), old style trem bridge (6 screws), neck plate is 4 bolt and blank (no imprint), white trem spring cover w/ one long rectangular hole for strings. Bought used from a local (non Fender authorized) music store. :?:
Still have my 1st Strat, original Black 76 hardtail w/ case and tags.

I was going to say maybe a highway one, that had 2 string trees and the finish but they switched to the larger headstock before then, like 2006 I think. So I'm not sure.

I've come to the conclusion, with the help of a couple of stratheads, including you guys, that my Strat is a partscaster. Neck from an 07 American Standard, pickups are positively Abigail Ybarra (not sure of the series). Body appears to be Highway One (odd color finish but compared to other Highway One solid colors, type and style of finish is correct).

ANYONE EVER SEEN A HIGHWAY ONE IN SURF OR SEAFOAM GREEN?

Forum User HWY1Strat has one in every color made.

I can't tell what color that middle one is though, might be sonic or daphne blue.

Hi Nevin: I have little knowledge of the HWY1 line, but I know for sure they did a Sonic Blue finish for a while, because I remember all the fuss around this Forum with people trying to get hold of them after they'd been officially discontinued. I think but don't recall for certain that it was the small headstock version - whenever that was DC'd.

So I wonder whether there were some HWY1s in other "custom colors" too?

But I don't have the answer...

Cheers - C

EDIT: ...though this thread shows some confusion over whether the 2006 model I'm thinking of was Sonic or Daphne Blue:

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... p?p=205998

Googling for images produces the same doubts - though conclusively shows it existed, and with the matte finish 2manyStrats describes. If his was indeed Daphne then that sometimes looks greenish to some people's eyes. Also, I'm finding it with both headstocks. Possibilities...
