well, I am a strat player and I allways have identified myself as a strat player. I have 3 strats to my 1 tele. Yet, I seem to play my tele more than all my strats combined. Any other strat players hit that point where they like another guitar better than there strats?

Am I a sick stratplayer?

It could just be mood, just like music itself I like a lot but get stuck one one artist or genre for a long while, then get bored with it and listen to something else. I eventually comeback to the style or artist.

Tanner,

Variety is the spice of life. I have a bunch of guitars, including a bass and I
enjoy switching off occasionally. It makes my hands "think" harder. My strat remains my number 1, but someday I will own a tele and who knows. The ones I have played in the stores are very friendly.

Enjoy them all. That is what they are for.

Although I play all my guitars regularly I always have a Strat in the living room for plucking on even when I have one of the others out for playing.

Nothing wrong with the Tele being the "go to" guitar... I find that I tend to go in spurts... a week with the Tele, then the Stat then Ill get on an acoustic binge... As they say, what ever makes you happy :D

Not a day goes by I do not play at least one of my Strats. I used to own other brands, but I always come back to Fender. I love my Strats.

It sounds like your heart is with the Strat but your ears are with the Tele.

If you really want to keep picking up the Strat, consider doing a pickup swap out for something different that are going to grab the attention of your ears again.

It's like buying new clothes, if you like what you see you wear it.

Well then new pickups may allow you to like what you hear.

All that said, Even though I am not a big Tele man, if the Tele is a USA there is nothing wrong with that being a go to guitar either.

That is a really good idea. Yet I do like the sound of my strats.

It's weird, my tele is a MIM and yet 2 of my strats are MIA (american deluxe and american standard) and the tele lately has just felt better. I guess that goes to show where the guitar is made sometimes dosn't really matter.

I have both.........but I find myself always going back to the strat. Fits best against my body.......and......neck is much easier to play.

Hi Tanner: no rights or wrongs here. So out of mere curiosity, what is it that's drawing you to your Tele? Is it the sound? Or the feel of the neck? Or the chunky, back to basics feel of the body? Or the refreshing simplicity of the controls? Or...?

What's interesting here is to examine the "why" of the thing. Tell us about it, please.

Anyhow. World's full of fabulous Telecaster players. Nuttin' wrong with it! :D

Cheers - C

I love Fenders and I too have one Teli to three Strats... I have other oddball guitars and acoustics as well and all get played though none as much as my Fenders. I tend to always lean back on my Strats but feel right at home on a Teli! No worries - if it feels good, do it!

I find myself switching between my Strat and Les Paul on a regular basis.

The Tele is a very compelling instrument. It has a rawness and an almost primal character that can draw you in and captivate you. I sometimes go through stages where the Tele is the guitar I play more than all others. So the asnwer to the OP is, no, you're not sick. As a matter of fact the Tele can be so compelling that some people get lost in there and never come out. Over the years I've found many discussion boards for Fender instruments and 2 discussion boards dedicated to the Tele, most noteably the TDPRI but I have yet to come across a discussion board specifically aimed at the Strat alone. One may may exist that I've never found but I doubt if it would have the loyal following and the membership numbers of the TDPRI. I've always considered myself a Strat man but if I were forced to choose between the Strat and the Tele for the rest of my life I really don't know which I would pick. Actually if I were given the opportunity to have a Nashville Tele with a P90 at the neck and a Bigsby I'd prolly choose that. Damn! Did I just go and give myself GAS? I hate it when that happens.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Tanner,
As you can see form my name I too identify myself with Strats. However, I have 2 Teles which I just can't seem to keep my hands off of. One is an MIM Standard Tele and the other is a HWY 1 Tele. Both sound incredible and play like butter. But, at the end of the day my Strats are like coming home when I have been playing my Teles..:) Nothing wrong with it brother..:)
ABS :D
