Hi guys,
I have a set of Vintage Noiseless PUP's in my Strat and the pots which came with them are 1 Meg Pots and a Treble Bleed Kit. Has anyone installed these PUP's with standard 250k pots and if so, how does this impact on the tone?

Howdy!

I haven't got a set myself but I've read that the 250k pots provide a much more desirable tone.

Check out this link to a thread I think may help...

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... +nosieless

Andy

Thanks Andy, that was very useful. I think I'll give the 250's a go to see how they sound.

You might want to try the 500's first. If memory serves, Fender noisleless pups usually come with 1KΩ's and a switch to 250's might be a bit much.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I have a 1m pot on the volume and 500's for the tone's. This is what came with the PUP's. It seems other people have different combinations so I'm not sure which gives the best classic tone.

I have had the vintage noiseless for a long time, and a couple years ago I put in 250k pots. It sounded terrible. It cut the highs significantly- like a muffled sock was all over the sound. I changed it back the same day.

What value pot's did you have before you changed to 250k's?

It was whatever came with the set- 1mg and 500k pots. The last time I tinkered, I think I used the Jeff Beck strat's diagram, listed on the Fender site.
