I have all my Strats with the vintage 6 screw Tremolos on them. I am not very familiar with the 2 screws Tremolos on the AM Deluxe. What ar eyour thoughts for those that have them. Do you notice any big differences compared to the 6 screw Trems?

Jeff Beck is the only *name* guitarist that I know of currently using the 2-point.

I find that it's easier to control pitch while using the trem.

My 04 50th is my only Strat with the 2 screw set up and I must say that I much prefer the vintage 6 screw style.I don't know if it's because the 6 screw is the one that I'm used to but I find it much easier to control and it also holds its tuning better,at least for me it does.

Thanks fellas. I do prefer the 6 screw. I tried an AM Deluxe and thought it might just be me, but the 2 screw trem just felt kind of different to me.

If your guitars are set up properly you should barely notice any difference.

The main thing is they use different tension springs, so that will account for the difference in feel.

I'm not a big fan of the wanker bar -- thus, I prefer what Leo designed for the Stratocaster......either a six-screw trem or a hardtail.

Hi airbornestrat: big differences - no.

But I do still remember the first time I ever played a Strat with a two-point bridge: it was a minor revelation. It felt so smooth and pure and good!

I absolutely agree with Twelvebar that properly set up there should be mininal difference. And I've built guitars with both types of bridge so I'm in no way against the six-screw ones. But if I were forced to choose (which thankfully I'm not) I'd go for a two-point bridge - on the desert island guitar...

Cheers - C

The 2 point is smoother acting than the 6 point and some people interpret that smootness as being more wobbly and they don't care for it. That makes it a case of personal choice. No surprise there. However there is no truth in argumenst preaching one stays in tune better than the other. Both will stay in tune when used the way Leo intended, ie. light vibrato and both will go out of tune with agressive use. It has not yet been mentioned on this thread but I'll stop it here and now before it happens. There is also no truth to any arguments that one is stronger or longer lasting than the other.

As with pretty much every other aspect of a Strat that can be different from one to the next, pick which ever one you like better.
