I'm looking forward to have a new Strat HSS guitar with Floyd Rose locking tremolo, but I can only see that there's only rosewood fretboard in stock.

Some say that the maple fretboard gives you brighter sound...

Seriously, I have no idea what's the difference between them...

any ideas? Your answer's appreciated :D

You'll find a lot of past discussion in this forum regarding rosewood vs. maple. Suggest you take advantage of the search function.

My personal opinion is that fingerboard material is several items down on the list of things that affect tone. Behind body wood, neck wood, pickups...amp and speakers.

You could make your decision based on what you think looks best, and nobody could really argue with you. I like my ebony fingerboard with abalone dot markers....pretty.

Some people really believe that a maple fretboard imparts a brighter sound but it's just an urban legend.I have played many rosewood board Strats that were brighter than any of my maple neck ones. There are so many dynamics involved that the notion that a maple board is brighter just doesn't hold water.A maple board will facilitate easier bending and the rosewood will give you more feel other than that the only difference is purely aesthetic.

I see.

Well, you know, it's because the maple fretboard is not black like the rosewood or ebony, so the colour matters a bit :P

I'll try looking for previous posts regarding this topic then.

I just joined the community today LOL

thx a lot :)

No problem Sinx and welcome to the forum.I think that most people with a lot of experience with Strats will agree that fretboard wood has little or most likely no effect on the overall tone.
