Location: In a house....unless I'm at work....then I'm in a shop.
It;s on e-bay right now.....

http://cgi.ebay.com/Fender-Custom-Shop-MIM-Stratocaster-/220651107247?pt=Guitar

Of course, it's a MIM unit.

I didn't know Fender had a custom shop in Mexico.

What a dork, I e-mailed him asking for more information and documentation.

Can't wait to see what he comes up with.

Here's a copy of what I asked him....

Dear 828judepp,

Hi there.

Help me out here if you please, when did the Mexican plant gain a custom shop?
I know that some of the Artist models and some FSR models are made there, but to my knowledge, the only custom shop Fender has is in Corona.
Do you have the certificate from the custom shop?

Any information will be very much appreciated.

Thanks.
JT

User name is judepp. Sounds like duped.
See their other auction for the transparent red Strat they are selling.
"Hi, Can't find a #. The Japan is not on the heel of the neck and there is nothing on the headstock. The # might have been removed at some point."

Oh right...

Good job setting the seller straight. Looks like he took heed of your question. He editied the ad now "I made a mistake on the listing. I didn't mean to say "Custom Shop" in the title. Custom was all that was intended as it has gold hardware. My error."

That's still a good price for a MIM Standard with aftermarket gold gold harware. Are those Gibson volume and tone knobs though? They look out of place on a Strat :P

That seller is dishonest, they look like a pawn shop from what they are selling. They have sold at least a couple of dozen Strats and would know very well they were representing it as a custom shop.

Their other listing has no serial number on it.

So which is it stolen or fake?

What makes you think they are dishonest. They seem to have answered you Question. I wouldn,t buy either of the guitars no matter who was selling them.

I'd be very suspect of someone selling a guitar-or any thing else-with the serial # removed as the only reason to remove it that I know of is so that it can't be traced as it was stolen. So that and the erroneous entry-that was only changed when it was brought up-are 2 strikes against him.One can only guess what kind of garbage may be in the guts of the guitar that coupled with the fact that there's no returns would be enough for me to give it a pass by.

I see the guy commented on his mis-labeling of the guitar.

I am not into gold hardware, but I am sure it will appeal to someone.

He did seem to be responsive to my e-mail.

Dear jeffy2n,

Hi,
Thanks for pointing this out. I didn't mean to say "CUSTOM SHOP". What I meant is; It's custom because of the gold hardware.

As to his other guitar, I do not know what to make of it.
