GREAT Work! These guitars are just beautiful -- I pick pewter, just because it's different (as in uncommon). But then everything about these guitars are different. They will look great hanging on the wall, waiting to be played 8)

AWESOME - Can't wait!

Just looking over the entire thread. Great photos, Great Info -- I use 5 springs on my trems. I'll have to give the Tremsetter a try. Nice step-by-step coverage on fret work also.

A question for you..what is the color of the pick gaurd?
It seems to change in the different shots you took of them.

Sorry if you already answered this in the previous posts but I didn't see it.
Every time I see those pictures I just stare at the guitars! I don't even see the words... :)

-T

No Problem! Those are what Warmoth calls Black Pearl. I get all my guard there except the Fender Custom Shop Ultra guards in Vintage White Pearl, which I picked up from a guy who use to work at Fender. My supply of those is running low too....

Thank you.
Some of the shots they look blue!

Great combination of colors on both guitars!

Well, I have been playing the Pewter Plus a bunch the last few days. What a great guitar. And it stays in tune wonderful. I am afraid to play the black one as it is dead mint (NOS) so I do not want to risk scratches! The neck pickup on the pewter is a Seymour Duncan Seth Lover humbucker. It was designed to copy the orginal 50s PAF humbucker produced by Mr. Lover. The harmonics is really nice through my 1970 Fender Bassman Head (AB165). Love it!

I agree, Black is one of my favorite colors, not only for Guitars but for cars (vintage especially!) But the bad thing about black is how fussy it is. Fingerprints, surface scratches, and the like. Here are few more Black one I have built. Seems like most of them have had Rosewood necks. I do like the looks of the Maple with the black though!

Hi Xhefri: that is a fabulous set of pictures! Man, there's plenty to look at there! Thank you for that. :D

And also for all your other excellent photos. Since you have a thing for black cars as well and since you are so good with the camera I'm wondering about the possibility of a pic or two of a black vintage car with a black Strat sitting on the seat or in front or something? (You will know how to make that look good better than anything I can suggest.) If you were wondering what to do with your time, that is...

Cars and guitars: there's a reason it rhymes! 8)

Anyway. Thanks so much again for all the cool work on this thread. Very inspiring for many of us, I bet!

Cheers - C

Hi Xhefri

Congratulations for such great work and for letting us watch your progress on it.
I just bought a CS SN Strat with Strat Ultra wiring and thanks to your site I discovered the complex wiring of it.
A real discovery !!
Thanks again
Oh BTW I'd go for the Pewter one.

Hey Mr. C. I have been out of the vintage cars for a couple years so no picts of me with a guitar in front of a black classic. Here are a few I had when I was younger. Old picts, so not so good and I chose only some of the BLACK ones. At one time I had like 12 pre-1940 cars. The first one was the car I had when I got married—a 1936 Plymouth Coupe. The second is a ground up restoration of a 1937 Ford Coupe and the third was a 1938 Packard Sedan. These are just a few I had back in the late 1970s and early 1980s. I have to add, I was not some kind of rich kid, as I came from a poor family. But being OCD I watched for cars all over— behind farms in Montana, in the bushes or gullies, picked up a few clean ones or built them from parts. Like the 37 Ford was really about 6 different cars—roof off one, floor out of another, etc.

Then about 6 years ago I restored 1935 Plymouth Sedan with my son as a father son project and then about 2 years ago sold it on eBay. To be honest, I would rather do guitars as they are smaller, finish faster and I can use them year round!

The car was cool to look at and ran well, but not practical to drive places, so after selling off it off bought this very clean, low mile 1993 Toyota MR2. Some people call this a poor man's Porsche.

So Mr. C. Show me that car you have at your place....seems I remember you showing it or talking about it one time!

Nah you don't mate. The MR2 is a far superior car in my opinion. Far better reliability, handling and consumption. You can spin em round a 50 pence piece at 60mph.

Yeah theres a load of acceleration, but the thing only does 16 miles to the gallon, we pay around $7.86 a gallon of petrol. Glad it's a friends and not mine.
It does look, drive and sound nice though.

Here's my next prospective buy. Nostalgic bliss for me.

Man, that Capri is bad.....really bad! The thing must move!!! How did he get that Beamer V8 to fit in there???? Then I looked at:

http://bmwv8capri.yolasite.com/

Reminds me, there is a guy in our small town here that has an older Mazda RX7 with a beefed up 350 Chevy V8. So odd hearing it drive by with the low rumbling sound! Really sweet!

Hi Jeff: thanks so much for those car photos! That's very cool indeed - man, running boards are just made to have guitars posing on them, donchathink? :D

Beautiful. Congrats on all of that.

Oh, and I think MR2s were great, too. Why on earth have they finished? Back at the end of the '80s I had a girlfriend who worked for a Toyota dealership. Always regretted I didn't scrape the cash together for a nice MR2 at that time - she offered me a great deal! Ah well...

My current wagon is nothing flashy. Just a Jaguar X Type in Racing Green:

Only noteworthy thing about it is that we pre-ordered it and it was one of the very first to be made during the first month of production manufacture. That was at their Liverpool factory which was also new at the time. They were so pleased with their new baby they invited us (and others) to come and watch our car being built: they knew in advance to the minute when it would be coming down the production line.

Unfortunately Liverpool is a tedious journey from where I live and my wife and I decided not to do it. Been kicking myself over that ever since. That car has run flawlessly for nine years now. We keep thinking it must be time to replace it... and then we insure it for another year and carry on. A rear wheel sensor started failing once a couple of years ago. That's the only issue we've had with it in all that time. Not bad!

Thirsty though...

Cheers - C
