Thanks for all the nice compliments! Guess the next build will be over on the Tele Forum. I think I will customize a Jerry Donahue Telecaster.

Jeff, don't forget to customize basses in addition to guitars. We've appreciated a lot your customized guitar stuff but expect something different from you with a couple of bass guitars. Maybe a maple-neck MIM cowpoke or a matching pair of Boners (a Precision and a Jazz) just for fun.

Ok, I finished these two Customized Strat Plus'. I was too lazy to take pictures of the final set-up on the Pewter one. In a week or so I will tweak it one more time after the wood settles in. Man, they both play sweet. The Seymour Duncan Seth Lover on the Pewter Plus gives those really nice 50 humbucker vibes, well, so does the Dimarzio Air Norton on the black one. Bluzy, jazzy, rocky and even metal tone with out compromising the Strat tone on the other switching positions. Has a lot of that Strat out-of-phase quack and honk. The action on both is really nice with the .10s

Interesting. I lean toward the black, but then black has always been a favorite color of mine especially in vintage cars and street rods. I thought maybe the black pearl looked a little odd on the Pewter. I like it but not quite as much as the Black look. I do have the Pewter right her in my office and been playing it. Wow sweet guitar..... Thanks for your input.

Chromeface, I have a Squire Bass that is relic, and has Gold Lace Sensors in it! Do not plan to expand into basses any time soon!

Well, I was really digging the black, when it had the white pickguard on it. I always wanted a black plus, but already had a black strat so never picked one up.

Both beautiful but I like the Black one better.

Thank you for the pics and descriptions. Very informative.

I'd have to say the pewter one. I still prefer the S/S/S pu config best, but I wouldn't say no to either one of these.

Dude! Fire Engine, is such a cool cat! 8)

I'm leaning towards the black one, probably due to the Air Norton you've got in the neck. Love the switching options on both.

Great thread man!

Also- regarding the rough routing- would it be possible that you indeed have a poplar body there? I ask because some poplar bodies I have seen have routing so rough you could scratch your back with it. I would put the more looser grain on poplar may have caused that- with alder you can get very clean cut routes, even on lower priced MIM and Japanese guitars :)

Hey Blertles, I think your on to something and I guess I need to add some things to my website. I looked at another body I have from 1991 and it has the same type of stringy stuff going on in the routes. On a close inspection of the neck socket, I was able to grab some fibers and pull them up and the wood was really stringy and fibrous. So I think the Grey body and one of my other bodies is Poplar. Sure not Alder by the looks of the wood in the neck socket on either.....

A question for you..what is the color of the pick gaurd?
It seems to change in the different shots you took of them.

Sorry if you already answered this in the previous posts but I didn't see it.
Every time I see those pictures I just stare at the guitars! I don't even see the words... :)

No Problem! Those are what Warmoth calls Black Pearl. I get all my guard there except the Fender Custom Shop Ultra guards in Vintage White Pearl, which I picked up from a guy who use to work at Fender. My supply of those is running low too....

Selling guitars like these is relative due to a few factors, how much someone wants one and how bad a person wants to sell one, and many things in between. I am not sure what the forum rules about talking about this. You could email and I could explain. xhefri@gmail.com
