Yea I don't get it either tube screamer. He did state that his buddy would buy the body then and build a Hendrix or EVH custom. I really wanted a cherryburst as well but I am sold ont he white version. One thing though is before I got offered this one for sale I had found a paisley sambora for $800 and was in the process of buying it and the next thing I know I get an email 2 days later someone offered him $900 so he sold it. I was a little ticked off since I was to pay for it at the end of the week which the guy was cool with....so someone got a GREAT deal there. Anyway sure enough the guy I am buying this guitar off of said he sold it to someone who then asked for a refund since he managed to find the paisley one for a good price. So i am assuming that gentleman got the one I was going after and I am now acquiring the one he was originally going to purchase.

I'd say that looks legit as well - does the sticker say 40th or 50th anniversary on it? Strange that it has a 1989 serial if it has one of those stickers as well...

$1200 is a steal though and the neck with those stars would be difficult to fake and look genuine so I'd say go for it. Definitely buy the whole thing as from a collector's standpoint, it'll only increase in value. Even if you buy a new body and transfer the neck and electronics, you can always put it back if you decide to later along the line.

One of the worst things I ever did was part with a cherryburst Sambora MK1. I bought it for just £600 back in 2005 and got a grand for it on eBay but wish I'd kept it instead. Unfortunately, I had debts that needed paying off so the £400 profit was more important to me at the time. :(

Hey I need some help, I was originally going to pay for the sambora guitar through paypal but the seller said I never explained that to him which I know I did the first day I said I would buy the guitar. Anywho, he claims he sold an old les paul to a guy and used paypal. Apparently the guy stripped some parts off and then told Paypal the guitar came that way and never shipped the guitar back even though paypal refunded the guys money back. So i don't know what to think. I mean he did take alot of pics for me of the guitar, and has spoken to me on the phone, but what do I do. Do I pass on the guitar or is there a safe way to make payment for the guitar? I don't want to be out the $1200 but I really do want the guitar.

thanks for any help in advance!! =)

I smell scam.....all he has to do is take a picture of the guitar and parts he sends you..that is his evidence. Paypal would take HIS side if the item is shipped as described and he knows it.

STAY AWAY....he wants you to use a form of payment that only prevents YOU from any recourse.

Chances are good if you send a cashiers check or wire any money..you will never see the guitar or your money again. There really is no way to protect you or him from a scam 100% other then meeting in person..but if he doesn't trust you..why on earth should you trust him. You are the one with more to lose by sending a form of payment that offers no recourse if he ships nothing, or ships a fraud. I know this from experience..I am not being biased here, I am giving you advice to prevent you from being scammed big time.

Yea Im kinda leaning towards scam as well. I mean I have spoken to the guy on the phone and he doesn't sound like a liar or someone trying to pull a fast one, but I went back and looked at the pics he sent and noticed dates for 2008 and 2009....when he had stated that he had taken that day with his i phone. I am really kicking myself in the $@! for passing over the USA sambora neck that was on ebay and sold to someone in switzerland. It was for sale $399 and I didn't go for it until I got paid which was 5 hrs later. What stinks is it was listed 2 or 3x on ebay before someone jumped on it.

Yeah I know how that goes. I have lost out on many good deals due to not having the funds..but you know what?? Other deals will come along, sometimes even better so don;t beat yourself up too hard over it.

As far as this guy..a good scammer can seem legit over the phone..many use a disposable cell phone for 10 bucks...when the scam is complete the phone is tossed in the garbage. If you pay by a means like cashiers check or money gram...the money is gone without a trace..no recourse. These transactions are like cash..which is not insured by any bank, western union or government agency. Now of course i can not say for sure this guy is scamming you....but too many factors are in line to make this seem very questionable..not worth the risk IMO.

I should add..you also need to be careful on eBay. Sure it is much much safer then buying anything on CL that is going to be shipped...but at least on eBay you can read feedbacks scores and comments..you have some form of buyer protection..and get a clue of who you are dealing with by the way they handle business.

I try to avoid anyone with less then a 100% positive..if they are close I will read the feedback as sometimes a buyer is just complaining about shipping fees or unrelated nonsense to hurt the seller.

However..BEWARE any sellers with low transactions. I have never been ripped off as I am very savvy...but I did once send a question to a seller asking about a Strat Body. He sent me additional pictures and even some with himself (or who i thought was him) playing the guitar. I decided not to buy it because it had a different route then I wanted...but the price was right.

Anyhow..I get an email from eBay a few weeks later warning me that although my account is safe, that their records show i was in contact with this seller..who apparently was using someone elses info to forge an account and it is under investigation and not to buy anything from this seller.

Hey thanks ebaysux, yea Im really down about the neck. I really have a nice guitar body I want to put to use but I really want a sambora neck for it. It can be the large star inlays, or the small star inlay version. I don't know where else to look but man its getting frustrating trying to hunt one down and getting leads that lead to no where.

Well you are looking for something that is a special edition, desirable and kind of rare. So it will take patience. However, getting ripped off is not a good option.

I live in LA and have a lot of connections in the industry, I will put out the word what you are looking for and post back here if anything comes up. According to forum rules I can not sell anything here, but there is no rule to say I can not guide you where to look. I will not be a middle man or profit in any way, I just feel bad for you and understand your frustration.

Hey ebaysux,

Thanks I do appreciate it!!!!! You have no idea how long I have been after a Sambora strat but I coul never afford as they would sell $2000+ on ebay. Now I have had 3 chances to purchase a neck off of ebay but 2x I was outbidded and the last time I didn't have the money till 5 hrs later so I didn't do the buy it now. I do kick myself in the $@! over that as I should of just did the buy it now and waited till I got paid later on that night....but I have a belief that you shouldn't buy something unless you absolutely have the funs. So in my own stupidity I waited a few hrs too long. Do you think another Sambora neck will come up again or most likely not? I don't even mind if it has the small star inlays, though I prefer the large star inlays that gradually get smaller as you move up the neck. Do you have an email address so you can email me if something comes up? My email is rdfnd1253 at aim.com I was actually buying a paisley sambora that someone wound up posting the link of up on here, and next thing I know the seller sold it out from underneath me.

I don't need to give my personal email address on this site..or for you to. When I post it here, you will be notified by email from this site.

I still feel you are beating yourself up a bit. Personally, I think you should have done the BIN as long as you knew you could cover it within 7 days.

What I do and have done in the past, is contact the seller and explain that I really want the item, but can not pay immediately. They normally tell me that is fine and inform me of the deadline to pay if I chose to BIN. If I know I can make that deadline, then there is no problem. Some BIN auctions require instant payment..some do not. As long as you can meet the commitment, just do it.

Sorry but I have no way to know if and when a Sambora neck will come up again. Personally i hate his sound..it is just about the exact opposite end of the spectrum of sound I like..but i do admit..the star inlays are cool. I would even bid on one myself for the looks and rareness alone..but my bid would stop at around 150 bucks so I will most likely never own a legit one.

ebaysux, Yea I know I should of done the buy it now and worried about it later on. I did email the guy on ebay about buying it and paying for it later but I didn't hear back from him until it was later on when I went to buy it now. I understand you not giving out your email. It is cool and I can't blame you with all the spam and such out there now a days. Man you don't like sambora's sound? Have you heard his solo stuff? Well to each his own and yea the star inlays are awesome. I do appreciate your help though and thanks again!!!

I think he is a great player don't get me wrong. It is just not my style. I always recognize talent, but am very particular with what I really like. Very heavy down tuned rock, and soulful blues like SRV. Just my personal taste.

Anyhow I will keep my eyes peeled for the neck you want..I want one too now lol, but unless I found one in the 150 dollar range which is doubtful, I will pass it on to you.
