forget technical aspects for a moment: if you had such a guitar worth 1200 dollars, would you even consider selling only the neck ans pick ups for 700? (and what'st the guy going to do with the body then?...makes no sens)
i would not trust this offer if i were you;

Carlus, I passed on the sambora. The guy wasn'tlegit for sure as that same serial number off "his" Sambora strat was being sold on ebay by a seller with over 100 feedback. So the guy was a conartist.

I' d have to agree....keep your eyes open because once in a while someone does not know what they have and let it go cheap..but in all likelihood, signature series go up in value no matter what..especially limited runs and as unique as the samboras.

Hey ebaysux, I thought about bidding on the one cherryburst on ebay but I think shill bidding might be going on there. The first bid was by someone with 1 feedback. Some reason I find it hard to believe that someone who wants a sambora strat and is bidding, only has one positive feedback mark. I really like that one too...but I guess I can't win. Stinks!

Just to clarify, it could be a an innocent bid placed but my bet leads more to shill bidding. I have seen a white sambora on ebay being sold about 6 months ago that had someone with 1 positive feed back mark win the guitar after a bidding war....sure enough when i checked the winning bidders feedback to see if it changed after 2 months, it hadn't and the same for the seller. So it is obvious some sellers really do turn to shill bidding to up the bidding war.

Well, eBay are clamping down on it hard and actually taking people to court over this sort of thing so if you're pretty certain it's going on, as in the case of the white strat earlier in the year, I would report them. Too many dishonest people running around on eBay in my eyes but at least they make examples of the ones they catch.

What I would suggest is waiting till near the auction close time (say 10s left) and then putting in your maximum bid. If it's enough, you win and the seller is legally obliged to sell it to you but if you lose just accept it was beyond your price range and wait for the next one - and there will always be a next one.

Exactly. ebay actually uses IP addresses to track this..and shilling usually leads to the ebay account of the seller..and everyone they know to be suspended or closed up.

I would not worry too much about shilling. Here is the best tip I can give you. Enter the MAX you are willing to pay, then walk away. If you win you will be notified. If you watch it too much and get caught up in last minute back and forth,,,then a shiller can get you and you will pay too much.

My mistake is I procrastinate and watch it without bidding. Then I forget to bid or get stuck at work only to get home and find the item sold and i would have been willing to pay way more and be happy..well I told you about this already.

Well i did land a Paisley sambora but it might not come to fruition. Apparently a friend of mine who bought it has yet to hear back from the seller so he can send the guy the payment for it. On another note I did come into an offer for the newer model USA Sambora that was released in 1999 I believe. I just don't know how well they play or the neck shape and such. SO not sure on what I am going to do. I really was hoping to get the Paisley Sambora but I guess sometimes things aren't meant to be. As for the cherryburst on ebay, I am still watching it but the 2nd bidder as 1 positive feedback and you can't even check his feedback to even see what he bought. That's what leads me to believe shill bidding is going on in that auction. I was going to attempt and try to grab that Sambora but its kinda pricey for me.

I might take you up on that info and decide if I am going to bid to just bid xxx amount and if it happens it happens and if not, I don't get the guitar. I am so undecisive right now as I want a Sambora strat but can't see shelling out $2500+ for the one I want. Opinions from any the Sambora owners would be appreciated!

Either way..if you enter your max bid and walk away..you do not have to be concerned with shilling. However, if you end up getting ripped off, that is another story.

What your main concern needs to be..is the sellers rating, not other bidders. If you or any of your friends are dealing with a bad or fraudulant seller..then the only outcome will be a bad one.

Hey just to give the heads up on anyone interested in that Cherryburst Sambora strat that was being sold on ebay. I was right it was shill bidding. The proof came to me yesterday in my email. I had left a for sale notice on the guitarsite below others looking for a USA sambora strat as well about a month or so ago. Well i got an email yesterday from a guy named Ed whose user name is wizard. He was the winning bidder on the Sambora strat on ebay the otherday and had outbid me by $50. Sure enough I go back and look at the sellers name who is also Ed. Coincidence or not? So the sellers name is the same as the winning buyers name? And the guy who "now" owns the sambora strat wants $4299 or so for it after they won it for $2850 on ebay. So buyer beware if you too were eyeing it up and got an email from the owner of it the guitar.

Here's one of those Atlas Sambora copies going very cheap on eBay just now - well, cheap compared to a USA Sambora anyway. ;)

I would grab that one myself but it does not look like he ships out of the UK. Probably too much if he did.

He may if you ask but as you said, the costs to do so may well add a fair bit to the overall price at auction close.

That's the guy that offered me the atlas guitar to begin with on another forum. Then I got in contact with a dealer of atlas guitars about having the luthier build me a custom or just a neck. Apparently the luthier that builds these was very ill and in the hopsital for some time and told the dealer that he was building 2 more Sambora copies and then was stopping that signature series as he wants to start something new. The guy selling the one on ebay seems like a good guy so all the luck to him on his sale.

Anywho how are you guys? There was a gorgeous sambora cherryburst for sale on ebay but the wants wayyyy too much for it and apparently was using shill bidding when he first listed it a few weeks back. Has anyone ever seen a flame maple neck on a usa sambora strat neck? I wonder why his has flame maple and not just plain maple grain like the ones I have seen.
