I need help identifying if this sambora strat is the real deal USA version. The guy is willing to sell it for $1200 and claims its immaculate. The pics he sent do show a guitar in pretty good condition if not great. It has the following serial number, Se91890 ....the last number he won't give out to protect himself and the guitar. The guitar is from the year 1994 and is in olympic white. He also offered to sell just the neck and pickup/pickguard configuration separate for $700 if I was interested in just those parts. Is it worth it or not the real deal? Thanks for any help and do you think I should just buy the whole guitar for $1200 or go for the parts I want the most. For me I am not crazy of the white guitar body but it might be better to buy it together than split the guitar apart.

Opinions are appreciated! Thanks!! =D

Also is there suppose to be a 40th anniversary plate on the back of the headstock? Thanks!

Well according to Fender, the S/N indicates a USA..but 1989..not 1994.

Without pics....it is a crap shoot to depend on anyone here verifying it's authenticity.

Yeah, pics would be good, although they never made the USA model in 'Olympic White' - only 'Vintage White'. It could be a simple mistake in the description but obviously there's a difference between the two and pics would show that. ;)

I'd also be very wary of a USA Sambora priced as appealingly as that in 'immaculate condition'. What's that, about £800? They'd easily get over $1800 if they put it on eBay, particularly as the white models are actually rarer than the cherryburst.

This is actually incorrect.

The first edition USA Sambora Stratocaster was actually only available in Cherry Sunburst & Arctic White.

Do you have an example of this as I've never come across one in Arctic white - only vintage? The Olympic white Sambora models were all MIM models if I recall correctly.

All white USA 'Mk1' Sambora Stratocasters are in Arctic White. Vintage White was not available untill the 'Mk2' (small star inlays) was introduced!

Remove the first '8' from the colour codes (I'm not sure what that means?).

I take it Arctic white still has a creamy tint to it as well then? I have a white USA Sambora MKI and always believed it to be vintage white. LOL

Yes, Arctic is still a rather 'creamy' shade of white, possibly more so with it being a few years old.

Vintage White has an almost yellow tint. This was available on the Mk2, but never on the Mk1.

Sorry for the confusion guys, i might of labeled the color wrong but its a white color. It sure looks to be the real deal. I am going to have pics sent to my email tonight. Did the sambora guitars have a metal 40th anniversary plate on the back of the headstock?

thanks again!!

I'm pretty sure they didn't......SamboStrat83 :?:

Post some of the picks when you get them and I'm sure we will be able to give you some more accurate advice!

My white strat is a 1995 model and doesn't have the sticker.

My Black Paisley Sambora (1996) and the two necks on my doubleneck all have 50th anniversary stickers on them though so I presume the latter are also from 1996.

Yep, get some pics up and we can have a proper look at it. :)

Thanks tubescreamer......I was thrown off by the metal plate on the back of the headstock. In your opinion is it better to buy the whole guitar for $1200 or go for the neck with pickups/pickguard for $700? I was really out to get the neck and pickup configuration and make my own custom guitar but I feel torn about splitting up a guitar like that.

I can't believe the guy is willing to split that guitar up?

I would definately take the whole thing! Those guitars are becoming quite rare and collectable.

Looks real nice!

I always wanted one in the Cherry Sunburst.
