Hey guys, i'm looking at trading in my American Standard Strat for an American Deluxe this Fri. . While I was at the local store I noticed the Deluxe has the S-1 switch.

Now I've done some research before but could never really find out exactly what it does to your tone when it's activated. If anybody has one would you mind letting me know what it does to each 5-way position?

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi Fender890Corey: we were talking about this just the other day. To save typing it all out again take a look at this thread:

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... c&start=15

Towards the bottom I did a very long and anally retentive post about just what the S1 does on an HSS Strat of mine, and how it sounds. It'll be a little different on an SSS of course, but much of it will apply.

In short: I used to tell people the S1 probably isn't worth it. Now I've changed my mind and I say; maybe it is worth it after all!

Thanks Ceri! At least now I kinda have a basic idea of what it does and sounds like. I'll probably go and play it some more and get a better idea of it wed.
Appreciate it.

I actually think the s-1 and noiseless are overrated. I ended up removing the whole loaded scratchplate out of my 2009 Deluxe and had loaded guard with a Suhr SSH+ humbucker and 2x Fletcher Landau's and have never looked back!
