I have a Mexican Fender Strat from '96, a Fender Frontman Reverb amp and a DF-7 distortion factory pedal. How do I get the tone for Back in Black, Whole Lotta Love, or Am I Evil?[/img]

From my understanding you want to sound like Led Zeppelin, Metallica and AC/DC.

There're many tips and tricks you can find on Internet. Also, your guitar is a Strat with three single-coils.

I suggest you to install a hot humbucker in the bridge position and buy an HSS pickguard. For better results, drop in the Fender mid-boost kit on your axe and replace the stock neck & middle pickups with a pair of stacked humbuckers, or opt for an HH or HSH configuration, which are more suitable for this type of music.

If you're not able to do these changes yourself, contact a professional luthier or buy a Standard Strat HSS with a Floyd Rose tremolo.

It sounds to me like you need to spend a few hours twiddling the knobs on your amp, guitar, and distortion pedal.

No One will be able to tell you the exact settings you need.

You will not find one tone that can cover all those bands / songs you want to play. I would recommend you get a multi effects unit with a wide variety of amp models. That will get you into more interesting territory than the gear you have listed.

My old digitech RP-200 has quite a few useful tones. There are even settings to make single coils sound like humbuckers and vice versa.

The distortion pedal will only take you so far.

Regardless of amp, amp modeling will get you some decent tones.

+1 I have a new Digitech RP355 and it does amazing stuff! Hope that this helps.
ABS :D

There's really not a good way to nail the tones you're after without duplicating the original instruments and studio environment as they were recorded....for instance Whole Lotta Love might have been recorded with a Telecaster and an old Supro amp....maybe not,but Page used that setup in the early days I've read.
Like the other guys said, twiddle the knobs on the gear you have get a good sound and go from there....there's more to guitar playing life than trying to copy a tone from a recording you can never duplicate.....ask me how I know this.

Was there some reason you felt it was necessary to post the same question twice?
