i prefer the deluxe series... i own a MiM deluxe series strat, and i love how it feels and plays, not to mention how great it looks... the american series is even a step up from my guitar and sounds and plays even better... i never have been the biggest fan of highway 1's, they're nice guitars, but i never found them comparable to other series for some reason

The problem I have with the MiM Deluxe series is that they are ugly. Garish body or scratchplate colours or gold hardware - yuk.

meh, its personal preference i suppose.... i love my transparent saphire blue finish with the brown pickguard.... i would have maybe liked something more plain, but i'm not complaining, its what drew me to the guitar

The NEW Upgraded Highway 1's are excellent guitars.

The HW1 series are great guitars, I have a 2004 HW1 Strat. But the AmDlx is in a different league. No contest if you ask me.

One of my favorite Strats is my '05 Hwy 1 (Honey Blonde w/ Maple).

Maybe I just got lucky, but the neck is one of the best I've played. 8)

I prefer the smaller (normal) headstock also. My '74 Strat has the large headstock.

the highway one with out any doubt.
the highway one is a better all around strat
it has more tone versatility than the american delux or
the american standard.

I own a HWY 1; however, I would like to own an American Deluxe some day. I would have chosen one at the guitar store when I went and bought my current HWY 1, however I was actually in the store for a MIM. I played a few of the MIM and a few HWY 1's. I came across the HWY 1 I purchaced and the choice was made for me once I started playing. If I had the money a the time, I would have gotten the American Deluxe more than likely.

I am cool with everything but the gold hardware. To me, it just does not look good on a Strat. That being said, the "tranparent sapphire blue" finish mentioned by Citizenerased is one of the most beautiful standard finishes available today regardless of the maker.

+1 to that. Of course, I am biased - my Highway One is that Transparent saphire blue finish, which is what triggered my irresistable GAS for that particular guitar in the first place...
