Hi Guys,

OK ive just changed strings on my Strat..its first string change. It was supposed to have bullet strings but when i took the old ones off there was just convemtional ball end strings on there.....weird?? The Strat was brand new and came in an unopened box and case..so i was the first to see it after it left Corona.

The sticker on the back says "bullets fitted" but they werent..any ideas..had fender run out...lol!! Not a problem just left me scratching my head for a bit.

I now have some shiny new bullets fitted..! :D

Now let's hear everyone once again rag on FMIC QC.

FMIC has a disclaimer on the bottom of their instrument descriptions where it clearly states that specs are subject to change without notice. This would be one of them.

Which Stratocaster did you get. Some do come with bullets and others come with other strings. The tremolo plate could have been meant for a different model.

So either you got the wrong strings, or the wrong plate..either way something was wrong..but if it was only the strings...not a big deal..those should be replaced right away anyhow for personal setup.

But I know..if it says bullets that should be on their...oh well.

I fail to see the complaint here, when I bought my new strat, I had the strings changed the action set before i took it home, I dislike the Fender bullets strings.

But that is just me.

Agreed...besides, who keeps the original strings on for long anyway?

I do not think he is complaining, it's just an interesting and ironic situation and question. He said "not a problem"

He's just asking did Fender run out of Bullet strings and substitue, or what?

There was a thread a while back about which strings should be on new Americans...current specs on the web site list bullets, but they didn't for awhile.

From that thread, a couple other 'new' guitars had other then bullet strings on them, though one had colored ball ends, which wouldn't even be Fender!

Apparently FMIC had an issue with bullets and used regulars?

Well from a logical standpoint, it would seem they simply ran out of bullet strings. Since they don't ship the guitar without strings, they have to use a substitute.

From a financial standpoint, it would make sense for Fender, to use Fender strings.

Either way..it's only a few dollars. Regardless of what is "recommended", most players use the gauge and brand and type of string that suits them personally. As long as the guitar is set up properly, it really does not care what brand is strung on it.

I think Mike Eldred has said they install D'Addarios on the CS guitars, because they found out that most people change them as soon as they get it.
