Hello, i just bought a used koa strat. It comes stock with 9's and only has 2 springs on the back. If i put 10's on it should i put another spring on the back. Will this throw the intonation out.

I must say that the action and set up is fantastic right now and i don't want to screw it up but I m used to playing with 10's.
thanks

i remember when the koa came out in 2006. or thats the first time i saw them.
great looking guitars, POST PICS PLEASE.

now, changin to 10s will throw action intonation and neck relief off.
you definitely need extra springs.

if i were you, i would keep it with 9s, if your dead set on 10s, youll need a complete setup....

Here is mine. I have it strung with 10's. Mine came with 3 trem springs, though. I bought mine new.
If you bought yours used it's possible someone robbed a spring from it for some other project.

Thanks that's what i thought. Yes it is a beautiful guitar and the seymour duncans sound fantastic! I have also noticed that when strumming, i sometimes swipe the volume knob and the volume goes up to 10. How can i fix this? I'll try to get some pics.

I bought the Kinman Woodstock set and the K9 solderless wiring harness with all the pots and the jack & switch - complete with 9 positions instead of the standard 5.
That means the stock volume pot has been long gone ever since but I don't remember ever having trouble with it.
I tried quite a number of pickups in this guitar including 3 sets of SDs and a set of DiMarzios but I feel I have "arrived" with these Kinmans.
The pic I posted shows the guitar with the original SD AlNiCo's in it. (one of the three)

SD AlNiCo II Pro = Ice pick stabbed in my prefrontal parietal lobe.

And yes, it rawks.
