Hi all,
I have a 2007 reverse head strat but i'm not happy with the synchronised trem - every time i use it, it messes up the tuning.I don't use trems much anyway so whats the best way of securing it?
I've removed the backplate - should i place something between the block and the body or tighten the two large screws to increase the tension on the springs so that it pulls the bridge, trem flush with the body?
Any advice, much appreciated.

what gauge are you using?
have you tried lubricating the nut?

try getting graphite off of a #2 pencil apply it to the grooves of the nut.
if you are tightening the screws, adjust using fender's guidelines
for bridge height as a starting point.
you may also have to check intonation

could also be as simple as how you string your guitar.

There are so many things that could be causing tuning problems besides the vibrato arm.First of all I have all my vibratos flush monted to the body as I find that this way keeps the most stable tuning.Your strings could be binding in the nut slots,on the bridge,in the string trees or where the strings come up through the body before they reach the bridge. The fix for this is to lube all contact points with graphite or a lubricating medium made specifically for guitars. The number of winds on the string posts is also a factor-the fewer the better-I find that 2 or 3 winds is plenty. The strings that you are using could be too heavy a guage for the nut and could be binding making it necessary to have the nut slots widened or going to a lighter gauge string. Also when changing strings, change them one at a time to avoid tuning problems caused by the sudden loss of tension on the springs. To get the vibrato flush with the body, first slacken all strings and tighten each screw on the spring claw one turn and retune, follow this procedure until the bridge is flush with the body.BTW you also need to back off the screws holding the bridge down before attempting this to avoid putting strain on the screws and possibly having them tear up the wood on the body-this step is very important.I hope this was of some help. Welcome to the Forum where you'll find an answer to everything even the meaning of life-which is to play a Strat.
