In case you missed out on the Big Apple Strat, get one of these. Seriously nice guitar for a steal! I even came to like the amp-style knobs on it.

I've made my own interpretation of the Blacktop HH Floyd Rose using the guitar builder.

As mentioned on a previous post, the Blacktop Floyd Rose HH looks much better with a large headstock and a bound neck with blocks (I really regret the guitar builder lacking off a 22-fret option).

Ewww!

No offense, but that's not working for me at all...

I was walking through Guitar Center yesterday and they had Squire Bullets now in HH configurations... A former band member bought one of these earlier this year when they first came out. I thought it was an American made because of the 22 frets, but its MIM and cheaper than MIM Standards...

Does anyone know the value of the pots used in the Blacktop Strats? I was thinking, if need be, to replace the pots (when I get my guitar) so I could use the conventional Stratocaster knobs. I'm getting the all black/rosewood BT Strat and actually do own black "push-on" ... not "set screw" knobs. I'm assuming the amp knobs they use now use a set screw.

THANKS!

That Strat is frickin terrible, what the hell have they done. I love a HH Strat, I have a custom built American deluxe but that one is the ugliest things i have ever seen.

I actually quite like the look of the Sonic Blue and Maple:

Knobs look like they'd get in the way of some killer trem action.

I love the look of the skirted knobs but they get in the way of the trem. Other than that it plays great.

I absolutely love the Blacktop series; however, I recently used mine as part of a trade up to an American Standard. My Blacktop just did not sound that good with my Mustang amp. I already have a Floyd-Rose equipped Squier, one dive-bombing monster guitar is enough for me.

The Value of the Pots would be 500k

I pretty much figured they'd be 500K. Probably using a .02 cap to shape the tone, too. The guitar arrived today, and I did some major set-ups (I always do) with the .009s going to .010 (I usually play .010 on Fender and .011 on Gibson). I set the truss rod (didn't require much), adjusted the tremelo springs, bridge height and intonation.

Guess what? It's a COOL sounding guitar! :D

I'm not sure, though, why they decided on amp knobs (with set screws) ... they seem a bit cumbersome and can get in the way of the tremelo bar. I'll likely be get CTS replacement pots with the split shaft so I can put on the conventional Fender Strat knobs.

Boy do the knobs get in the way. Plus, since I don't use the trem often it was months before I found out that the included arm was too short and would get jammed on the volume knob. By the way, my trem was flush with the body so I had the most available clearance.

I'd switch to conventional knobs. I might consider a Blacktop, then modify it.

My trem is flush with the body, too, and the volume knob is definitely there and you have to be aware of it. When I use the trem, it's usually gentle surf down-sweeps and not much more. No dive bombing (except for a few Hendrix tunes).
