I'm fairly new to Fender Strats and I have come across an American Deluxe Strat but doesn't look like other Deluxes I've seen. This one the body has a transparent red finis with a black pickguard and the head is also black, instead of having a natral maple head..what can you tell me about this Strat.
Thanks

2 Tex Mex pups
LSR nut
black headstock, pickguard
very sweet guitar

The biggest difference is that the guitar is made with a MAHOGANY body. Meaning you hear a tonal difference. Pickups are real different from the Deluxe as well. Depending on what year it is, it either has S-1 like a Deluxe, or without. Overall, VERY nice guitar, and so beautiful too.

Based on what I have learned from here and a search on e-bay, plus the fact that it looks brand new, I bought the mahogany deluxe today for what I think is an incredible price...$600.00. I'll try and post a picture later. I have figured out what others are saying here on the forum about these guitars being addictive. As of today I now have a 2006 American deluxe Strat, a 2001 MIM Strat, a 2000 MIM Strat, and now the 2008 Mahogany American deluxe.

Congratulations! Those guitars are absolutely gorgeous. It was my first real Fender after a long summer of saving, and while I unfortunately had to sell it to cover the remaining bill of one semester of college, I plan on repurchasing it sometime soon.
