I've had both, the rosewood has a darker tone to it and it plays differently. I have a Roadhouse Strat that I replaced the maple neck with a Lonestar Strat neck. Everything else was the same, but the tone was a little fatter and darker....

I think everyone has valid points. Tone comes from many factors, fingers, wood, strings, etc.,. Guitars with exact parts and same model can sound different too. :) I think every guitar has its own character, sound, etc.,.

One-piece sycamore is the best, beyond doubt. Hey, prove it ain't so. :D

I think the difference between maple and rosewood is mainly in FEEL, not so much sound. Some people like the feel of maple under their fretting hand, while others like rosewood. It's subjective too, some people like the look of one over the other. I do think there is a slight difference in sound that you can hear acoustically, but not when your plugged in and turned your amp to "11".

+1 My thought too! Mr C. Might be right though!
