I ordered a American Deluxe ash Wine Transparent Strat months ago through Sweetwater and still don't have it or any answers as to why it's taking so long. I mean these things were announced in march. Please Fender send me my guitar.

Does anyone know what the hold up is with Fender? They made this huge push for the new AD but where are the guitars? This guitar has been paid for for months. My money is gone but still no guitar to make the twangy twang with. This is very frustrating. Please Fender I WANT MY STRAT.

Hi again 2ndDayRiffs: OK, to give you a serious answer...

Your first port of call has to be the shop. There is no good reason why they can't give you an explanation as to where your guitar has got to. It is a perfectly legitimate question for them to put to their supplier, after all.

You could try ringing/emailing Fender Customer Services (contact info elsewhere on this website). But to save you time I'm sure they will tell you two things. One is to talk to the shop. The second is that Fender produces its guitars in batches at the factory (a given model in a given finish, etc). No doubt all that is happening is that the next batch of your Strat is working its way up the production list.

No reason why either the shop or Customer Service shouldn't be able to provide you with an estimate of when that is likely to be. We've seen such estimates given before, here on the Forum.

Good luck - and please remember to post us some nice pics when it finally does show up! :D

Cheers - C

I am in a very similar position as the OP. I joined the forum specifically to ask about this, and am glad to see I'm not the only one waiting on a Strat.

I ordered an Aged Cherry Burst American Deluxe Ash Strat with a maple neck from a small-time but reputable dealer in Pennsylvania way back in March. Despite making payments since that time, there has been no tangible progress toward actually receiving my guitar. I have contacted the dealer repeatedly since the middle of May, and the dealer in turn contacts Fender. He is routinely (and by this point somewhat hilariously) told "it'll be there in four weeks!" Lately I've been threatening to cancel the order, and was given a vague excuse about a paint vendor being the culprit. The dealer suggested I contact Fender directly, which proved equally futile. I heard exactly the same "four weeks" and "paint vendor" lines as I've gotten from the dealer. Good news: dealer is not a lying swindler. Bad news: Fender couldn't care less about a customer having to wait nearly 5 months and counting for a premium instrument.

Needless to say, I'm irritated over the issue but also (reluctantly) relieved to see it's not just me getting the shaft from Fender. I'm sure the company knows quite well that a Strat is a Strat, so my threats to cancel the order ring empty. It's not like I can go buy a Fender Stratocaster from the other Fender. I just wanted to post to offer my story and empathy with the OP, and to also illustrate how utterly useless bothering the dealer and Fender has been in my situation. I have resigned myself to the slogan "it will come when it will come."

I can never order a guitar from anywhere, first, I don't have the patience, second, I have to play and fall in love with it before I decide to spend any $. But that's just me... so sorry you guys have to wait.

LOL so sorry you have to go thru that. If you can cancel your order I say call Wildwood and pick up this beauty instead.

It's tempting but I'm still salivating over the picture of yours. Some morning I'll check my phone and see a message from the dealer, and there will be much rejoicing.

This is why I do not order guitars, I cannot wait to play them. Also I have to play a guitar before I will pay for a guitar. I kid you not, I played 2 different MIM Standard SSS Midnight Wine guitars the other day and they both sounded and played differently.

I am still looking for a Midnight Wine Fender to take home with me, I just have not found one yet.

I have some experience with long delays on Fender guitar orders. The reason for the delay is that they need to wait for X-many orders to come in before they bring the workers in to build the guitars. They don't have guitars coming out of the shop day in day out. For example, if there are only say 100 orders in the pipeline, they won't begin building them until there are at least 500 orders. If you're lucky and order your guitar when they are getting close to the 500th order, then you'll get it built and shipped out quickly. However, if your order is one of the first few in the new batch, then you may need to waits many months before it's built and shipped out.

Hi cedarblues: that is a beautiful Strat with very nice body grain. And a great photo too!

And I presume that's an EJ Strat in the background with the bound neck? Tasty!

Want to tell us about the third Strat in the pic? ...I bet you do! :D

Cheers - C

Thanks Ceri! It is a beautiful Strat and extremely light! For a while there I thought it was a one piece but just recently I noticed it was two piece ash, they did a great job matching the wood.

That was an EJ, I gas'ed over that guitar and after spending a few days with it I decided it wasn't for me, it was a gorgeous Strat!

The third is my very first guitar, a 79 hardtail, that one is a keeper!
