Hy everyone I am currently customizing a MIM Fender Lonestar Strat. I am in search of a switch tip made of pearloid in white if they are even made. I have done extensive searching but I haven`t turned up anything.

Is there any after market companies making pearloid switch tips?

Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian: I'm pretty familiar with aftermarket suppliers and I don't ever recall seeing a pearloid switch tip. That doesn't mean they don't exist somewhere, but at any rate probably not from any of the usual suspects. Be very glad to discover I'm wrong on that, though...

Slightly suprising, when you think about it. Considering all the other moddable parts (what a lot of aftermarket guitar knobs there are, for example) you'd think someone would be turning out switch tips in exciting, non-standard forms, wouldn't you?

A tiny little business opportunity going begging there, for anyone as is interested...

Cheers - C

That was exactly what I was thinking too. They have many colors available but I haven't seen one in pearloid in any color. I just received some after market chrome metal knobs with white pearloid tops. They look amazing installed!

I bought the Olympic White Lonestar a couple of years ago and I have been changing bits and pieces to suit my needs and likes. So far I have changed the string trees to the US model trees, white pearloid pickguard, swapped out the Fender Texas Special single coils for Seymour Duncan STK3 and 5 singles (great match up with the Seymour Duncan PHG1 Pearly Gates plus humbucker) new '70's F style' neck plate.

Toying with the idea of adding a 22nd fret as there is enough room left on the fret board to add one more fret. May change the saddles to the US block style saddles. Need a new matching white pearloid trem cover plate as well.

But the switch tip is a mystery to me as to why they are not available YET lol.

I will keep searching and if I find any I will post who makes them if anyone is interested.

Ian

Hi again Ian: well then, assuming you can't find a pearloid switch tip what about fitting a chrome one instead, to match the chrome parts of the knobs? Those do exist and at least that would make some sort of visual sense.

For that matter, I've seen chrome pickup covers out there somewhere - or would that look just too tarty...?

Care to show us pictures when you're done? We love looking and guitars! :D

Cheers - C

Yeah, switches piss me off. Gotta figure out what type, then see the options.

Is there a place on the Fender forums to post pics? I will post to my photo bucket account if there is not.
