The ash tray bridge cover was a standard accessory included with all vintage Strats and Teles up until about 1975. Also furnished were a black adjustable cowhide strap and a gray ten-foot cable. However it's nearly impossible to do any proper palm muting with the cover in place.

...I wonder where they all are?...

They literally were used for ashtrays and when they got really nasty looking/smelling, along with the cigarette butts, gum, etc, within got tossed in the garbage. I must have tossed at least a dozen myself.

Who knew they would be worth anything back then? I can tell you I picked up a nice one piece ash 70's Strat body..with neck and neck plate for a great deal last year. When I got to the guys house, the body was being used as a candle holder..I kid you not. It was covered in wax and crap.

A one piece ash body from the 70's...a candle holder..I got a great deal on it though. Re-sold the parts and it killed me a little inside..but I needed money bad at the time. If I was in better shape financially, I could have found 70's pups and electronics and would of had one heck of a nice Strat..and it makes me sick to think what it would have been worth.

In your dreams.

That set of speed knobs came from a '54 gold top Les Paul. They alone go for over three bills.

True. But in this case I was being sarcastic...that "pile of junk" is a treasure for ANYONE who knows what it is, or really needs it to complete a vintage guitar. These types of parts may become priceless one day.

That's why I have many, many boxes of this kind of stuff safely and securely packed away.
