Anyone know when Fender first started making "relic" models ?

The idea for the relic series came after Keith Richards told the Custom Shop that some replicas he commissioned for a Stones tour looked too new, stating "Bash 'em up a bit and I'll play 'em!"

My earliest memories of the relics was the Muddy Waters Tele. Does anyone have an earlier one?

I prefer the old school way of relic'ing...play the hell out of 'em in every stinkin' litlle roadhouse you can find!
