I just ordered a Fender Special Run (FSR) American Standard Stratocaster in what they are calling a Vintage White finish (looks almost yellow), with "vintage" features like a white one-ply pickguard.

Don't have it yet — can't wait to get it!

I've been told these models were limited to just 150 guitars, but I haven't been able to find out more about them, not even from Fender's "product" list on the website. Maybe I'm missing something.

Anybody have any opinions about these new models? Are they really limited to just 150 guitars? Does it actually SAY that anywhere on the guitar?

Thanks, Michael

Hi trapdoorspider,

The Am Std is a great guitar. I have an 08 model, and about all that I've done to it so far, is to change the cast block to a steel one, change strings to 10s, and lock down the trem. The attention to detail on the guitar is wonderful, the fret edges and fret size make for some comfortable easy playing. It plays great, the neck is smooth and the pickups sound pretty good since the block change. The guitar sounded good to begin with, but the new block gave a fuller richer tone than the cast block that came on the guitar. The sound went from good to noticeably better. I think that what you have is an Am Std with a little extra! Sometimes the FSR is a run of a small number of those guitars made for a certain retailer in a certain area of the country. But the same guitar might also be offered in another area of the country, also as a limited run. Usually the FSR will have color options that weren't offered with the regular Am Std. Do you have some specs, color, pickups, fret-board, special features? Pics would be nice! I am sure that you'll love the guitar! Isn't the anticipation great? :D
