I'm selling my friends guitar, but I'd like to know first around how much it really costs. It's a 2007 red stratocaster. It's in great conditon, no scratches. I also have a small amp with it too. It was made in Mexico, and the serial number is: MZ8132755

That's really all I know about it..? But if you could give me your best estimate of how much you think it cost that'd be great!!

If it's in like-new condition, you should be able to get somewhere between $250-300 for it.

With most used items, it really is only worth what you can get for it..it is not like precious metals where there is a daily rate by weight.

Right now on ebay there is a blue 2007 MIM strat, maple, asking $495.00 BIN + $49.00 shipping. 10 days left. It claims an ash body..I thought they were all alder unless a special edition or clear finish but who knows, could be the seller is mistaken..or could be I was misinformed, usually I am pretty dead on with my appraisals.

It also claims an upward bow on the neck...so asking almost $550.00 with shipping for a 2007 MIM with a possible neck issue...hmmm. But the seller has 3,247 transactions and only one or 2 negatives..so he can be considered a good seller.

There ya have it. I had sold a really nice sunburst/maple mid 90's MIM on craiglist around 2 years ago...asking $350.00, got $325.00 and the buyer was stoked that he got a near mint 100% original MIM that cheap. But I am in LA perhaps they get a bit higher for guitars here then other locals.

On a side note, a couple years ago I saw a 72 USA body and neck on ebay, starting bid $400.00. Ends up after I emailed a question that the guy lived walking distance from me and he canceled the auction upon my begging. I walked over and gave him $400.00 cash for it. I got almost $200.00 just for the neck plate. The body had a humbucker and floyd rose route which I repaired and got $475.00 for that. I got $375 for the neck..I could have got double or triple that but some numb nuts from the 80's put a floyd rose locking nut on there and it was beyond my capabilites at the time to repair the rose wood. Fortunately the bullet truss survived.
